Hot Shot has to baby-sit the damaged RBA Test Robot, who won't stay put.

Synopsis

[edit]

The five recruits drive through a city towards a mystery rescue they've been assigned. Hot Shot is frustrated that they're driving so slowly, but Hoist and Medix remind him that Heatwave is having them drive safely and in formation. Hot Shot turns off in order to take a short cut, only to accidentally run down Tough Luck Chuck on a crosswalk. Heatwave halts the simulation and points out the basic error. Unfortunately the damage to Chuck is more extensive than usual, and Boulder is going to have to make some new parts, which means someone will have to look after Chuck while that happens. Hot Shot is "volunteered" for the task by Heatwave, who has something to attend to in Milford.

"Always answer every question with 'Yes, Heatwave!'."

Hot Shot plays video games with Chuck strapped into a chair nearby. Chuck soon slips free from his bonds forcing Hot Shot to stop playing his game so he can stop the errant robot from wandering off. Spotting Whirl doing some research nearby, Hot Shot attempts to rope her into looking after Chuck instead, but while he's doing that, Chuck disappears on them. The pair start a search of the base and eventually find that Wedge and Hoist have found Chuck in the GroundBridge room. Hot Shot again tries to hand off his bot-sitting duties, but Hoist accidentally drops Chuck, just as Heatwave returns through the GroundBridge. Heatwave fails to notice anything and leaves, while Chuck promptly staggers through the still-open GroundBridge. The recruits determine that the Groundbridge has deposited the hapless drone in Milford. If a human finds Chuck, they may realize that he's constructed with alien technology, exposing the Rescue Bots' secret. Unfortunately, this means they need to tell Heatwave.

Heatwave takes the recruits to Milford and they begin the search, though Hot Shot is concerned by the fact Heatwave is sticking with him. Whirl spots Chuck in a supermarket parking lot and Hot Shot heads there at high speed, almost taking out a hapless shopper. With Chuck secured, they return to the training academy where Medix successfully repairs him. Hot Shot promises to do what Heatwave tells him in the future.

Quotes

[edit]

"I know we're still learning and all, but we're not supposed to run someone over on the way to the rescue, are we?"

Hoist

"What? Why me? It's not my fault he- well, yes it is, but still!"

Hot Shot finds himself looking after Chuck.

"Poor Chuck! What if something happens to him? Like he falls into a trash compactor, only it has sharks inside it. With lava breath! And laser eyes!"
"I... don't think that could happen."
"Not on my watch!"
