Noisemaze is a Planet X Transformer from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
The other goofy ominous nutball hardass.

Noisemaze (ノイズメイズ Noizumeizu) is a survivor of the dead world Planet X, it having fallen in war against Gigantion. Seeking revenge, he plans to use the confusion surrounding the Grand Black Hole and the search for the Cyber Planet Keys, manipulating Autobot and Decepticon alike with his spy tactics to bring about the dream of the Planet X survivors—the resurrection of their homeworld and the destruction of Gigantion itself.

Noisemaze was a Cybertronian Transformer who was absorbed by Unicron and integrated into his being. When the dark god's spark was absorbed by Megatron, the remaining body went awry in its regeneration functions in another space or universe. To compensate, the planet resurrected those who were absorbed by Unicron, including Noisemaze. Rechristening Unicron's body as "Planet X", its denizens found Unicron's memories and copied them into a medium of their own invention, and Soundwave acted as an administrator to this data. After his homeworld was destroyed in the war against Gigantion, Soundwave discovered in Unicron's records the existence of Primus and his Cyber Planet Keys. As such, Soundwave, with Noisemaze as his partner, resolved to nab the Cyber Planet Keys, restore Planet X to its former glory, and take revenge on Gigantion.[1]

In the Cybertron dub of Galaxy Force and surrounding media, Noisemaze was recharacterized as Sideways, a preexisting character. See Sideways (Armada)#Cybertron cartoon for a near-identical account of Noisemaze's actions in the Galaxy Force cartoon.

  • Noisemaze (March 31, 2005)
    • ID number: GX-01
    • Accessories: Left & right wing-blades, Planet X Cyber Key
One of the very few "Planet X" -themed toys in Galaxy Force, Noisemaze transforms into a black and orange alien spacefighter. The center-back of his jet mode can rise up like a gun turret; plugging a Cyber Key into the back end of the assembly deploys two pairs of spring-loaded blade, plus covers the Autobot symbol in the top with a Decepticon badge. This assembly becomes a non-removable left-arm-mounted "shield" in robot mode. His wings can also detach from his ankles and be used as blades, with both pegging into his hands, either with one blade in each hand, or with both blades pegging into the top and bottom of a single hand, forming a double-bladed weapon.
This toy was first released in Takara's Galaxy Force line as "Noisemaze", featuring silver-chromed details on the wings. The Later Hasbro Cybertron Sideways replaced the chrome with silver paint, dropped some of the silver details on his key jack, and dropped some of the bronze paint on his "collar". The Hasbro version has also been slightly retooled, rounding off his robot-mode head-horns, presumably for safety reasons. And of course, Sideways's Cyber Key has a Cyber Key Code stamped on the back the Takara version lacks.
This mold was also used to make the Japanese DVD-exclusive Noisemaze Mass Production Type Version and Universe Ratbat. It was retooled to make BotCon 2009's Timelines Scourge and Sweeps Two, Six, and Seven (the Sweeps were later repurposed as Shattered Glass Scourge).
