Fiction
Dreamwave Generation One continuity
Twincast was one of several clones created by Shockwave in the same program that produced Sunstorm. While in a tube, he was discovered by the Battlechargers, who released Sunstorm. The laboratory the clones were stored in was soon destroyed by Sunstorm. Night of the Combaticons
Toys
Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers
The original Twincast toy was repurposed as a separate character in Dreamwave continuity.
- For this Japanese-exclusive release, the first Blaster toy was redecoed into a rather cacophonous new blue, yellow, and red color scheme. Like his contemporary redeco Soundblaster, his chest door was retooled in order to accommodate two cassettes at once, and changed from colorless clear plastic to translucent red as part of a gimmick with his pack-in partner, Steeljaw. This version of Steeljaw sports a new decal depicting Scorponok, which reveals the Decepticon's weak spot when placed behind Twincast's red door, working in the same manner as a Tech Specs decoder.
- In 2006, Twincast was reissued as an e-HOBBY exclusive, this time packaged with the new character Flip Sides. In 2012, Twincast was reissued again, this time with Nightstalker and Stripes.
Legacy
- Twincast & Autobot Rewind (Voyager Class, 2023)
- Accessory: Electro-Scrambler rifle
- Known designers: Mark Maher (Hasbro)[1]
- Legacy: Evolution Voyager Class Twincast is a redeco and new-head retool of the Kingdom Voyager Blaster as the character's revived form from The Headmasters (as such, he has the black thighs from the anime rather than the white thighs his above toy had). He still includes a cassette bot partner, this time being Rewind—who is similarly cast in translucent plastic. He also includes an electro-scrambler rifle, which is the same black coloration included with Blaster and not a toy-accurate red.
- Ben MacCrae introduced Twincast in his Hasbro Pulse stream reveal as "a clone that didn't work out so well for Shockwave as planned." So he'd be this article's topic, right? Right? Look, BMac said it.
- Twincast became available at Canadian retail in early February 2023, less than a week after his initial reveal.
Notes
- Be advised: despite the common blue arms, Twincast is not to be confused with the Soundwarrior inspired by Blaster's Micro Change precursor, Radi-Casse Robo. Twincast has a yellow chest and white legs with red highlights in contrast to Radi-Casse Robo's aqua chest and silver legs with black highlights.
