The name or term "Toxitron" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Toxitron (disambiguation).
Toxitron is a Decepticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Let me tell you a story about a 'bot with a strange complexion
He killed a lot of 'bots and made a love connection
By day, he had a girl who baked him Energon breads
By night, he roamed the streets and ripped off robot's heads
This is the legend
He’s the legend
The legend of the Toxic Transformer

Long ago, the Decepticons attempted to turn a helpless test subject into the ultimate warrior. What they got, however, was Toxitron, a monstrous abomination of science who wears the face of the heroic Optimus Prime. A twisted, mangled mockery of the Autobot leader, Toxitron would be more than a match for even the strongest Autobot... and that's without factoring in the noxious cocktail of corrosive slime that oozes from every seam in his armor. A walking vat of toxic sludge, this unusual mutation grants him tremendous strength, immense durability, the ability to heal away even the most grievous damage—and the power to fatally melt any Autobot who strays too close. The indiscriminate danger he poses to allies and enemies alike means that even the Decepticons are wary of authorizing his deployment on the battlefield, where he becomes a roaring, bellowing tornado of indiscriminate chemical destruction.

Toxitron is all too aware that he is a failed experiment. He stumbles and bumbles his way through life, speaking only to offer violent threats or grim proclamations of doom and gloom, and is happiest in deadly wastelands like the Rust Sea or the Toxic Sludge Swamps. However, this bizarre, almost morbidly comical facade conceals a deep well of primal, volcanic anger. Used, abused, and cast aside by his creators, Toxitron has vowed messy, indiscriminate revenge on the "perfect" 'bots who've never suffered the way he has.

In those realities where Toxitron throws his lot in with the Wreckers, he forms the torso of Wreckage. In this state, a system of internal force fields prevent him from accidentally melting his fellow combiner components.

Monsters have no rights; they can be locked away when not needed. Spat on. Mocked. Taunted... But... But... Monsters have no rules either. They simply destroy... And they learn to ENJOY it!!!

In Viron 704.31 Epsilon, Megazarak arrived from Cybertron after the death of Megatron and declared for leadership of the Predacon/Decepticon forces. Scourge challenged him, and Megazarak seemed to back down, only to poison his rival with Tox-En. Megazarak then recycled Scourge's chassis to make Toxitron, who served Megazarak loyally if incompetently. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/07/30

Of Masters and Mayhem

Right in the robonads!

Loudpedal and Oil Slick were trying to create a combiner when instead they made a subject that constantly produced noxious, toxic acid and could heal most wounds. Like the bastards they were, they implanted a stasis implant that would leave "Toxitron" paralysed and stewing in hate when they didn't want him used; this meant that when he was let off the leash, he would be many times more vicious. The icing on the cake was giving him Optimus Prime's face.

His first known attack was on the remnants of an Autobot force led by Spin-Out, where Toxitron was 'taken prisoner' and then wiped out the soldiers. His second was attacking a factory making the Ark engines, where he used the transponder from Spin-Out's rotting head to sneak in and went on to throw down with Jetfire. In each place he was used, he would especially loathe any Autobot whose armor was "too shiny". The Toxic Transformer At some point during all this, Shockwave or one of his subordinates used Toxitron to "grow" a Matrix shell, which later became part of Thunder Mayhem. Deadly Aim

The mad scientists got complacent and when the primary stasis implant melted, they assumed Toxitron was too conditioned to have realized it. Instead, the mutant was just waiting until a resupply ship arrived at the lab and then he broke free, butchered his tormentors in a very nasty way, and almost reached the ship to escape before the secondary implant kicked in. After that, the lab was abandoned. Toxitron stood immobile and alone until, after Thunder Mayhem had destroyed Cybertron, the Wreckers came to recruit him for a revenge mission. He'd been tortured into being a monster and now Impactor, who openly said he didn't care what Toxie had done as long as he helped fight, was offering him a chance to belong but only to a group of monsters. Toxitron found that bloody funny and agreed to join. The Toxic Transformer Unbeknownst to them, Toxitron was also swayed by the idea of being part of a team, though he wasn't about to let them know that.

After the team recruited two new members, Alpha Bravo and Offroad, Toxitron was recruited by Fractyl as a guinea-pig, hoping his resemblance to Optimus Prime would assist the scientist in an experimental mix of greenergon and a sample of Toxitron's fluids. Toxitron's animated ranting about Thunder Mayhem, and the cruelties of life, caused an accident in the lab.

Later on, after being knocked out with some assistance from Offroad, Toxitron had a special orb installed in him that would allow him to combine with others, along with an other special device of Impactor's. Afterward, the Wrecker took the motley crew on a daytrip to a Mechcannibal hive. Toxitron, for his part, was overjoyed to see such hideous creatures... at least until they took an interest in the "spicy" mechanoid, proving immune to his deteriorating touch. Before he could be devoured, the team formed the mighty Wreckage for the first time. However, the mesh of psyches proved uncontrollable, and the creation was soon split apart.

After recovering, Toxitron stumbled upon Alpha Bravo, the Autobot having fatally wounded Offroad in an attempt to prevent Wreckage ever forming again. Angered at this, though also impressed by the consequences of the Autobot's actions, Toxitron promptly ran Alpha Bravo through with his sword. In the aftermath, Impactor indicated he'd devised a means of dealing with their combined form if the situation went too far. Outraged at being lied to again, Toxitron went on a rampage through the ship. Deadly Aim

The Wreckers followed a signal back to Cybertron, where they met the Autobot gunner known as Bluestreak. The chatterbox impressed Toxitron, both with his kill record and his penchant not to brag about it, especially after Thunder Mayhem. Bluestreak had met alien terraformers known as the Teklaans who offered to restore Cybertron, but betrayed him and placed him in captivity along with the Wreckers. They learned the rejuvenation effect was something of a slow invasion, designed to destroy the planet again within a generation, allowing the Teklaans to claim it according to their programming.

When the Wreckers broke out, Toxitron, Fractyl, and Counterpunch made their way to the planetary rejuvenation emitter in the Teklaan ship. They came up with an idea to absorb and contain the rejuvenation radiation within the crystalline lattice of Toxitron's Greenergon matrix, but it seemed like the energy would be more than Toxitron could handle. Impactor and Bluestreak arrived, having modified themselves for Combination, and it was decided Wreckage might be able to absorb more power than Toxitron alone. The Wreckers combiner was reformed and successfully stopped the terraforming process and destroyed the Teklaan ship. Wreckage also pointedly located and removed Impactor's failsafe device from within the portion of him that was Toxitron. Lively Pursuit

Toxitron and the Wreckers received a signal tracking Thunder Mayhem to the planet Earth. Toxitron used his sludge to ruin the pretty features of the Minion of Unicron known as Ramjet (Thunder Mayhem's partner), unaware the dimensional hopper may have actually preferred his old, unstable physical condition. Pandora's Gift There they teamed up with Optimus Prime, Megatron, and the humans and Mega Pretenders of another reality to battle Thunder Mayhem. The human Elizabeth used her power to channel Wreckage's energies and shatter the Matrix of Malice, forcing the evil combiner apart. Toxitron and the Wreckers took the Mayhem Attack Squad into custody following that exchange. Finale

Melvin was a 98lb. weakling until nuclear waste transformed him into...
  • Toxitron (Super Class, 200?)
    • Accessories: Presumably sword, gun, 5 discs, 10 small missiles, 2 large missiles
Toxitron was to be a redeco of the Generation 2 Laser Optimus Prime toy, with "pea soup" green, silver, and purple as colors. It was planned to be released as part of the original Universe toyline, but was canceled, presumably due to the line's flagging sales and relocation of many of its larger-priced items from normal retail to store exclusives.
Toxitron was first shown at BotCon 2005's "TF Rarities" panel by Rik Alvarez, with people describing it as "amazingly ugly" and "f***ing awesome". Later, it was on display at the "Things you've never seen before (and will never get)" booth at the Hasbro tour at BotCon 2007.

  • Wrecker Toxitron (TFSS 5.0, 2017)
Part of the Figure Subscription Service 5.0, Combiner Wars "Wrecker Toxitron" is a redeco of Combiner Wars Motormaster with the mold's previously unused alternate head, with the Combiner head spliced from the Optimus Prime tooling. Like all Combiner Wars-style Voyager Class figures, he can combine any compatible Deluxe Class figures, although he is intended to form the torso of Wreckage. His two accessories can combine into a larger sword for his combined mode.
Toxitron uses the revised version of the hip joints. Despite the ratchet fix however, the other design failures of the original mold related to combining still remain. As an unadvertised feature, Blackjack (and any of his redecoes) can plug onto the pegs of Toxitron's gestalt chest, though the tension is weak.
He was released along with Wrecker Counterpunch and Shattered Glass Starscream.
Fun Publications scrapped tentative plans to do a Combiner Wars Nemesis Prime toy because e-HOBBY did the similar Unite Warriors Grand Scourge. Thus their use of Combiner Wars Motormaster's pretooled alternate head went to Toxitron instead.[1]

Transformers: Legacy Toxitron Collection "G2 Unvierse Toxitron" is a redeco of Legacy Leader Class Laser Optimus Prime, transforming into a mid-1990s Western Star 4964EX tanker truck in Toxitron's characteristic acid green and purple colour scheme. Toxitron's tanker trailer can convert into a battle station, complete with adjustable turret. Unlike previous versions of the figure, he comes with a Generation 2 Decepticon symbol, probably to fit in with his G2 Universe Wave-mates.
The Toxitron Collection was exclusive to Walmart in the US, with Hasbro Pulse receiving limited quantities of the figure. The series went up for pre-order on March 16, 2023.

Notes

  • Kre-O Toxitron is made from existing Kre-O parts, like all non-toy robot Kreons in the online Kre-O comics. In this case, he uses the Optimus Prime helmet with many additional details. His design contains a nod towards the Animated version of the character, especially in the green detailing and the toxic sludge leaking from the mouth.
  • The Facebook edition of Ask Vector Prime implicitly gives Toxitron the same characterization as his Animated counterpart—that of DC Comics' Bizarro.
  • According to Jesse Wittenrich, Fun Publications had discussed reviving the original cancelled Universe toy as a TFCC exclusive. This was shot down by Hasbro due to the size of the toolset.[2]
