Potential Reboot?

According to this article, Katherine Buckland is announcing that the 2019 film will feature a new storyline. But we didn't have any confirmation about the movie being a Generation 1 reboot. FigureGunplaFan (talk) 13:38, 23 September 2017 (EDT)

For a long time it seemed like Age of Extinction was going to be a reboot based on what the people making it were saying, but then it turned out to be a continuation. It's just way too early to tell how it's going to turn out at this point. --abates (talk) 16:54, 23 September 2017 (EDT)

“It’s definitely not a reboot, but it’s also not a sequel,” Paramount President Adam Goodman said in an interview this week, pausing to search for words to describe the hybrid. “It is its own new thing." [1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96megatron (talkcontribs).

Caption theme

I know it's way too early to talk about Captions for the page of the movie, but the theme should be from The Emperor's New Groove considering its being shot in well, Cusco. Energizier 16:33, 18 September 2021 (EDT)

Just to put it on the table for discussion, consider Planet of the Apes; Memetic and thematic. Dangerdan97 (talk) 22:00, 4 December 2022 (EST)
If T. rex Megatron does show up, I cast my vote for Godzilla vs. Kong. Failing that we could go the boring route and choose the Beast Wars pilot. ThatGuy79 (talk) 11:11, 23 March 2023 (EDT)
Or we could use the original king kong or maybe even Tarzan. Also why would that be the boring route?-Metalstar (talk) 10:20, 30 March 2023 (EDT)
It's the most obvious. A low-hanging fruit, so to speak. ThatGuy79 (talk) 14:18, 6 April 2023 (EDT)
Alternative idea, the theme for the movie's captions should be quotes from the two-part South Park episode "Pandemic", due to the Peruvian setting. Energizier 19:59, 28 March 2023 (EDT)
The Beastmaster is right there. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 12:42, 30 March 2023 (EDT)
If we do wind up using Beast Wars as the caption theme, is there any good reason it has to be the pilot specifically? --Nemesis Primal (talk) 08:14, 15 May 2023 (EDT)
The 2007 movie's page has captions from the 86 movie, so this one would follow suit for the pilot of BW. Energizier 13:33, 15 May 2023 (EDT)
I say a mix of 90s jokes and BW homages. Oh and for Unicron scene can you pleeeeeaseeee use lifelight verse where it says ("On that day, when the sky fell away(Unicron), our world(Assuming its Jungle Planet) came to an end. In our(Maximal) eyes, did a fading sun rise, from the dark glimmering shadows(Terrorcon))?Poliwag06 (talk) 07:43, 16 May 2023 (EDT)
The South Park Pandemic 2 parter is right there. The Peruvian setting is perfect. Energizier 14:13, 16 May 2023 (EDT)
How's about the classic 1933 King Kong? Because, y'know, big monke?.Dictionaryabot (talk) 5:26, 28 May, 2023 (EST)
Nah. Energizier 17:44, 28 May 2023 (EDT)
My vote's for Beast Wars quotes to follow the trend from the 2007 film, though I wouldn't say no to expanding beyond the pilot. Chopperface (talk) 13:55, 10 June 2023 (EDT)

Stratosphere

Are we sure that this Stratosphere is the same character as the ROTF incarnation? --TopsyTurvy (talk) 08:02, 2 December 2022 (EST)

We are not. Frankly, I'd be inclined to remove the links from Mirage, Wheeljack, and maybe even Arcee until we've decided how we're going to cover them - Mirage doesn't seem to have anything to do with Dino beyond a shared name. --Riptide (talk) 12:18, 4 December 2022 (EST)
I'd say it's more likely than not but technically none of these characters are the same as the ROTF incarnations for a sordid amount of reasons. Paladin Denn (talk) 17:41, 6 December 2022 (EST)
Guys, we Caple just confirmed that it's a reboot. We should definitely make new pages for all the characters. Dictionaryabot (talk) 5:30, 28 May 2023 (EST)
That's not how that works. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:02, 28 May 2023 (EDT)
Right, because Lorenzo is a reliable source of information. Banannixx (talk) 03:22, 17 June 2023 (EDT)

Scorponok?

He hasn’t been confirmed yet, IIRC. Just a bunch of scorpions. User:ShockSound11

Marketing Material

Since you guys did this for WFCT, can you do the same for ROTB chars?Poliwag06 (talk) 07:47, 16 May 2023 (EDT)

SG first airing

I think we should address that they chose Singapore to get first screening out of all places.Poliwag06 (talk) 11:37, 23 May 2023 (EDT)

Continuity Notes (Prequel v. Reboot)

“Promotion for the film has delivered a lot of fuzzy statements and mixed-messaging, but the film has been referred to (quite adamantly, on the part of producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura) as a prequel to the 2007 film several times.” Shouldn’t it also be noted that the director, Steven Caple Jr., explicitly referred to the film as a reboot during an interview? StunticonPhoton12 (talk) 13:00, 10 June 2023 (EDT)

It was my intention to go back and flesh out the section with direct quotes, as on the Bumblebee article. But I will say, the interview that everyone took as this massive explicit confirmation featured Caple saying: "It's a reboot for sure," then five seconds later, qualifying that by saying "It's a refresher, I guess you could call it a reboot in terms of where we're starting, but it's definitely a new direction, there's things that could probably connect to it." - Chris McFeely (talk) 13:39, 10 June 2023 (EDT)
And there were several little moments in this movie that certainly felt like they were meant to remind viewers of things that happened in the Bay movies. --Sabrblade (talk) 13:58, 10 June 2023 (EDT)
The "it's a refresher" comment I think is just to remind audiences of Transformers in general, rather than strictly connecting it to the Bay films. It's the same with introducing a new superhero reboot, it refreshes audiences on the character while being new. I don't think Caple Jr. using the word "reboot" was an accident, especially given the interviewer's question that led to that answer. Feels ignorant to discard this because the producer who has no involvement in the creative process is contradicting the director. Besides, if it's not a reboot, is the Movie timeline just going to continue ignoring Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts, and the events of every new installment because they don't align with The Last Knight? It feels like the wiki is making it more complicated than it actually is, but that's just my opinion. Jman98 (talk) 11:40, 11 June 2023 (EDT)
This isn't the first time the "Movie timeline" article has been radically affected by the movies. Originally, the Movie expanded universe timeline article was the main "Movie timeline" article, but then Age of Extinction and The Last Knight came and threw out all of the expanded universe content (even though it was the very glue that held the first three films' continuity together), forcing us to rename that page and create the new film-only "Movie timeline" page that we currently have. At worst, we'd simply have to make a new timeline article that includes BB and ROTB but ignores TLK. At this point, we'll just have to wait and see where the storylines of future films go. --Sabrblade (talk) 12:03, 11 June 2023 (EDT)
Variety said it best about the movies in general, they "weren’t exactly sticklers for the laws of time and space, either". Energizier 19:08, 12 June 2023 (EDT)
I don't think I'd place actual theatrical films in the same category as comics and games, personally. The films should dictate the timeline, always. Wouldn't say this is the same situation as that at all, Bumblebee and this film aren't "expanded universe" comic stories, they're proper installments in the franchise. Maybe there can be a compromise to have it divided into two core sections, pre-Bumblebee and post-Bumblebee. Jman98 (talk) 11:38, 13 June 2023 (EDT)

Release Date confusion

So, all sources point towards the movie having been theatrically released on the 9th. However, my mom (I'm on summer break from college) was able to get tickets for I and some friends to see the film a day early (June 8th) at Cinemark. It didn't seem like a mistake, as it was showing in multiple theaters there, including the XD one, and there were several promotional items available (optimus prime popcorn bucket and photo booth). I know that the IMAX version of the film released early, but this wasn't an IMAX theater. Does anyone know of any other instances of the film releasing early in some (non-IMAX) theaters, or is this the only instance? I live in Kentucky (louisville area), if that helps. Metalstar (talk) 09:31, 13 June 2023 (EDT)

That's just how movie releases are. Usually movies will come out the night before the actual slated release date. They used to wait until midnight, but they release as early as 7 PM the day before from what I've seen. Happens in my hometown for as long as I can remember. Jman98 (talk) 11:36, 13 June 2023 (EDT)
