Long ago on Cybertron, Ratchet discovers a wounded Decepticon scientist.
Synopsis
[edit]The Autobot/Decepticon war to wrest control of the AllSpark continues. Two scientists on the Hydrax Plateau continue their experiments, oblivious of an imminent attack until an alarm sounds. Ultra Magnus is alerted, and sends out a team of reinforcements who find that casualties are mounting at an alarming rate. The battlefield eventually falls silent, but even the Autobot victors can't be contacted, and Magnus worries that the Decepticons have used a new weapon. He sends out Ratchet to look for survivors. Venturing onto the battlefield, Ratchet finds that the combatants have fallen victim to a new form of Cosmic Rust.
As he continues his search for survivors, he hears a cry for help and finds a Decepticon stricken by the disease. Though ordered to leave the Decepticon, Ratchet is determined to do what he can. The Decepticon, Oilslick, insists he can guide Ratchet to create an antidote to the Cosmic Rust. It works, and Oilslick is cured, but immediately turns on Ratchet and infects him. Oilslick explains that the cosmic rust was his invention, and he was simply infected by accident while deploying it. As Oilslick zooms off, Ratchet uses his magnets to snag the antidote—enough to cure himself, plus give the Autobot scientists enough to analyze.

Notes
[edit]- This is an adaptation and expansion of the short story from issue 3 of the Transformers Animated: The Arrival comic by IDW. Notably, it adds a lot of bots to a big battle scene who will all fall victim to the Cosmic Rust... some of which would cause some continuity snags that would need smoothing out later.
Errors
[edit]- Ultra Magnus asks for a "reoport".

It's an adaption of the original Bots Of Science comic I illustrated...spot TFA characters designed by Derrick which never made it into the show but I put into the comic, as well as classic TF characters that I slipped into the book such as FirePrime (RIDPrime) Tarantulas and Motormaster designed by Josh Burcham.
