Theory on Soundwave's mouth and Jose Delbo

OK, so this mouth thing has bugged me forever. Does everybody interpret Soundwave's Transformers Universe profile picture to have a mouth? To me it looks like it's meant to be shine on the mouthplate. Otherwise he's got a kind of a "vampire mouth" which is out of sorts when talking about Transformers of that era. Plus G1 Soundwave has a faceplate in pretty much every instance besides Jose Delbo's art.

My theory would be that Jose Delbo interpreted it to be a mouth and not a mouthplate. I figured I'd ask before adding this edit to the page. What do you think, guys? Plausible? Jerryteacup (talk) 16:25, 1 August 2023 (EDT)
