Notes

[edit]
  • The third year of the magazine brings a lot of design changes, as well as the first big switch in the comic story.
  • This is the first issue to have an actual cover! All the usual page 1 stuff moves to page 2, which now includes: a table of contents, "Brian's Bytes and Bolts", "From the Editor's Desk" (by Pete Sinclair), some credits, and a message for people who are moving. The chibi-Skyfall has been replaced by Landquake. This layout remains unchanged for the remainder of the magazine's run, so just assume it's like that unless you read otherwise.
  • "Micro-Sized" appears for the first time, a page of comics and Mini-Con profiles.
    • The Giant Planet Mini-Con Team's personalities are based on those of the Brothers Strong from long-running animated web series Homestar Runner; Longarm is Strong Mad, Overcast is Strong Bad, and Deepdive is Strong Sad.
    • Longarm is described as being "sharp as a bowl of wet glitch mice"; glitch mice were originally mentioned in Generaton 1 cartoon episode "S.O.S. Dinobots".
  • Characters mentioned in Grimlock's bio include: Bludgeon, Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Ultra Magnus.
    • References are made to the events on Klo from Marvel US The Transformers issue #80, and to Grimlock's stolen Decepticon battleships, from issue #78.
  • Characters mentioned in Mirage's bio include: Unicron and Optimus Prime.
  • The prologue to "The Dark Heart of Sandokan" is unique to this issue - the online story tells readers to check it out before reading.
