Kaname Production
Kaname Production (株式会社カナメプロダクション Kabushiki-gaisha Kanamē Purodakushon) was an animation studio based in Tokyo, Japan that was established in Spring 1982 by former Ashi Productions animators. In terms of anime, they are known for producing obscure original shows such as Plawres Sanshiro, Birth , Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, and Windaria.
In regards to Transformers, founding studio member and Kaname mechanical designer Shohei Kohara, responsible for mechanical designs on the aforementioned anime, designed the earliest Transformers character models that formed the basis of the designs used in the cartoon series and comic books at the animation studio. Additionally, Kaname provided animation work on the original cartoon as a subcontractor for Toei Animation.
By 1988, Kaname Productions changed its name to "Diva Co., Ltd." shortly before filing for bankruptcy.
