Pious Maximus is a member of the Cyberutopians from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Not especially jolly.

Pious Maximus is a leading figure of the Cyberutopian sect on pre-war Cybertron. He is known for his rejection of Ratioism and his deep, abiding faith in the Knights of Cybertron.

Pious Maximus was an outspoken opponent of the Senate's practice of Ratioism, soundly condemning it at many Cyberutopian rallies. Patternism He had some degree of authority but Sentinel Prime refused to recognise it Ten to Midnight and so, much to the distress of his sect, Pious disappeared only to release a recording months later recanting his faith in the Knights of Cybertron. The cause for this drastic change in behavior was not obvious until Prowl and Tumbler discovered he had been an unwilling guest of the Institute. Patternism

During the war, Pious Maximus was involved in the battle over the Nightmare Engine on Clemency, where Ultra Magnus led a squad to "save him from himself". The Gloaming

A long time later, Sentinel mistook Fortress Maximus for Pious Maximus. Ten to Midnight

  • Pious Maximus's color scheme is a nod to the Xantium, which is itself inspired by "Stronghold", a fan character created by Don Figueroa.[1]
