User:Nevermore/Sandbox/Transformers names shared with Marvel characters
From MediaWiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchMany Transformers characters or concepts happen to share their names with those of characters who appear in Marvel Comics.
The original Transformers series was created in copperation between Hasbro and Marvel Comics, with Marvel writer bob Budiansky ending up naming most the vast majority of the Transformers toys. Sometimes Budiansky, whether intentionally or subconsciously, ended up recycling names (usually of rather obscure characters) that had previously appeared in Marvel stories. In other instances, Marvel themselves reused a name for one of their characters that had previously been used by a Transformers character.
In order to keep the synchronicity to a reasonable level, this list should only contain American names of Transformers characters or concepts (i.e. any Taraka-only names or characters are off-limits) who debuted during the original toyline's run (i.e. between 1984 and 1990), and Marvel characters whose debut either predates the launch of the Transformers brand, or who appeared while Marvel's Transformers comic series was still being published (i.e. 1991 or earlier).
