The 'bots try to work out whether the game remake also being difficult is good or not, and begin exploring similarly puzzling situations.
Synopsis
[edit]Prowl loses to the Destron Mark boss in Mystery of Convoy Returns. The others are impressed that he managed to reach the boss of level 3, but Prowl protests that he usually makes it further before dying. Lockdown again points out that having an insignia as a boss is silly to which Optimus Prime complains that they already discussed this last time. Bumblebee quickly changes the subject to other ways the remake matches the original, to which Prowl brings up its legendary difficulty. While Optimus and Bumblebee are impressed at the craftmanship, Lockdown points out that the original difficulty was why the game was unpopular, and keeping that aspect is silly. Prowl tells him to get good, and the others think that changing the difficulty now would betray the game's original fans. Lockdown thinks the original game betrayed the fans of the anime and wonders which set of fans are more important to satisfy with the remake.
Optimus Prime suggests they try to think of similar puzzle-like situations. After a moment's thought, Prowl asks for an example, and Optimus comes up with the Japanese tradition of momijigari (紅葉狩り), visiting areas in autumn where the leaves have turned red. As he points out, though the word is partially derived from the Japanese word kari (狩り, "hunting"), no hunting is involved. Prowl recalls seeing footage of momijigari on TV and says he has trouble recognizing the gender of older humans which amuses everyone else. Lockdown brings up the disclaimer shown at the start of anime telling the viewer to watch from a distance, but the writing is very small, forcing you to move closer to read it. Optimus remembers that chocolates and laxatives come with desiccant packets inside labeled "do not eat", but doesn't think it's an adequate warning for kids who might not be able to read.

Notes
[edit]Real-world references
[edit]- Like episode 2, this episode is set at the Takasaka service area in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama, though in the outbound section rather than the inbound section.
- Momijigari is a real Japanese tradition.
- Optimus specifically calls out COLAC brand laxatives. Maybe he needs to switch brands.
