Introducing the Decepticon cast!

Synopsis

[edit]

Having had Laserbeak spy on the Autobots and Lockdown, Soundwave reports on their discussions to Megatron, who makes it the Decepticons' mission to attract more new fans than the Autobots can. Starscream doubts their Flash-animated five-minute cartoon will make a difference, but Megatron argues that this easily digestable media format is exactly what they need to reach new fans. Shockwave adds that the Decepticons have all gotten Q-Transformers toys to time with their appearance on the show, and most of them now transform into cars. Starscream asks Soundwave why he turned into a cassette player during a war to begin with, rejecting Megatron's explanation that it let him infiltrate enemy bases with the reasoning that finding a mysterious cassette player in your base is extremely suspicious. He also questions Megatron's own gun mode that was useless without someone else around to wield him, and what was up with both of them having the ability to shrink? The others argue that a giant cassette player and gun would be inconvenient, completely missing Starscream's point, and start talking about Shockwave's laser gun mode back when his name was Laserwave. Starscream's complaints that he's changing between "Laserwave" and "Shockwave" for no reason are cut short by Megatron, who demands they think of ways to earn more fans than the Autobots.

Drawing on the idea of verbal tics, Starscream suggests ending their sentences with variations of the word "wife" to earn them points among housewives, which he and Shockwave immediately begin doing. Megatron suggests appealing to boys with something cute like "nyu" or "nyo", while Soundwave (after his actor is told he's allowed to speak normally) goes for something romantic like "I love you". When Megatron begins combining their ideas, everyone breaks into laughter while discussing the kind of situation where they would all come into play.

Notes

[edit]

Transformers references

[edit]
  • As with his original cassette player mode, Soundwave stores Laserbeak in his chest, though in this case it's an engine compartment.
  • Shockwave's original Japanese name was Laserwave, but he was sold as Shockwave in the Q-Transformers line so that's what he's called in the show.

Real-world references

[edit]
  • This episode takes place at AEON MALL Natori, Natori.
  • Megatron mentions having heard characters end their sentences with "nyu" and "nyo" in some anime, referring to Dejiko and Puchiko of Di Gi Charat. Starscream responds with "I like to go wild" in reference to the Abarenbou character from the same series.

Trivia

[edit]
  • In the Decepticon episodes, Shockwave is the one to add a comment after the credits end. In this one, he repeats the "wife" tic he was using earlier.
