Heatseeker is a Decepticon Stunticon from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family.
"I'm as deliciously wicked and unscrupulous as ever!"

Heatseeker is a pretty simple robot. If it drives and it's not a fellow Stunticon, smash it. If you can't smash it, blow it up with guided missiles. Both options are a lot of fun for the lunkheaded, thuggish Heatseeker, who takes great delight in throwing his weight around. And unfortunately for anything else on the road, he's skilled enough at both of those to generally make up for his lack of imagination.

Sometimes however, he just can't get the job done on his own. If such a rarity should occur, he can combine with Slashmark to form Heatmark to deal with it, or if even that isn't enough he can combine with the other Stunticons to form Menasor.

"Oh, dress me in daisies if this isn't my most devious diversion!"

Heatseeker was assigned to claim Grand Valley as Stunticon territory by Motormaster. His tangling with some cops alerted Team Bee, who deployed Strongarm and Sideswipe in response to the situation, but after toying with them for a while, Heatseeker easily lost them by collapsing a tunnel on them. Taking up a position at the top of a rocky outcropping, he began firing guided missiles at them. When the Autobots managed to get the missiles to slam into each other and hid, Heatseeker held his position and waited for them to come out again. When Bumblebee, Drift, and Grimlock arrived as backup, they were unaware that Heatseeker had already spotted them, and the Stunticon fired off five more missiles, which threatened to detonate a nuclear waste disposal site close by. King of the Hill (Part 1) Heatseeker's missile attack was thwarted when Drift, recognizing the type of missile used, quickly instructed Team Bee how to use their comms to scramble and disable the missiles' detonators. Heatseeker retreated, chased by Bumblebee, Drift, and (eventually) Grimlock.

He laid a trap in the form of a huge number of oil-filled barrels scattered around a disused gas station, using his missiles to detonate them. Unable to use their now-malfunctioning comms to disable the missiles, the Autobots were kept running for cover. Thanks to the intervention of a mysterious Mini-Con, Heatseeker was once again forced to run, returning to the edge of the waste disposal site.

Encountering a lone human, Heatseeker intended to use him for leverage, but he didn't have the chance before the Autobots arrived and surrounded him. Heatseeker prepared another missile barrage, but was quickly dog-piled. One massive explosion later, Heatseeker opted to cut and run while the Autobots were unconscious. As he sped past the gas station, he noticed a Cybertronian tracking device in a crater, and quickly decided this would be the perfect way to lie to Motormaster about just why he had left his post, presenting it as a gift. Motormaster was unimpressed, but Heatseeker was able to talk him around. King of the Hill (Part 2)

Heatseeker joined his fellow Stunticons in the Crown City Grand Prix, believing that the "Ruler of the Roads" title awarded to its winner was literal. Disdainful of the "squishies" he was competing against, he revealed himself to Grimlock (temporarily swapped into Drift's body), and then proceeded to duel with the Autobot, attempting to push him off a cliff before spinning him out. As the race approached its finish, he launched his missiles at Casey in an attempt to give Drag Strip and Wildbreak a clear run for the win, only for the Autobots to dupe the missiles into doubling back and nailing the three Stunticons themselves. Disordered Personalities

"If I'm not the star of your next project, then no-one will be. "

Recovering from the setback, Heatseeker joined his fellow Stunticons in running the humans out of Star Visitor Estates, followed by his Crash Combining with Slashmark to celebrate their victory. They were then joined by Motormaster, who was less than impressed at the pace of their conquering of Earth's roads. The Golden Knight

Along with the other Stunticons, Heatseeker went on a joyride across the roads to assert their dominance over Earth, but a impressively fast train caught the attention and ire of Motormaster, who demanded the engine of the offending machine. Heatseeker and the other Stunticons met the Bee Team on the way to their objective but met their defeat during a brawl on top of the speeding vehicle. Motormaster took their report of failure badly and loomed ominously over his underlings, stating that he had various ideas of how they could make up for the loss. Railroad Rage

During Motormaster's tirade over the failure of the Stunticons to defeat the Autobots, Heetseeker objected to Slaskmark labelling the other Stunticons "buffoons". Motormaster had a plan, however, and had Heetseeker use a missile to send a truck off the road in order to lure the Autobots to a desert location. There, the Stunticons merged into Menasor with Heatseeker becoming his left leg, however Menasor's attempt to secure a satellite dish which was part of a meteor deflection system ended when the Autobots used the dish to send Menasor flying. Combine and Conquer

Learning that the Autobots were headed into space, the Stunticons mounted a surprise attack on their ship. When the Autobots fought back, Heatseeker reported that the weapons systems had been knocked out and suggested calling the whole thing off, but Motormaster instead opted to head for the Moon where he'd detected Windblade's cache of technology. When the Autobots caught up with them on the Moon, Heatseeker ineffectually fired missiles at them before Grimlock kicked him flying. The four car Stunticons followed Motormaster to the cache and combined with him to form Menasor so they could break through the cache's defences. Mission accomplished, the Stunticons headed back towards their ship and again combined to destroy Prime Force One, when they found it parked next to their ride. Unfortunately for them, the combined Autobots caught up with them and defeated Menasor when the five Stunticons came into conflict with each other. The five Decepticons were later loaded into stasis pods and taken into Optimus Prime's custody. Moon Breaker

Robots in Disguise (2015)

[edit]

"Drat, double drat and triple drat!"
  • Heatseeker (Legion, 2017)
Released as part of the twelfth wave of Hasbro's Robots in Disguise Legion Class toys, Heatseeker transforms from SUV to robot and back in just a few easy steps, with his transformation scheme taking cues from the Legion Class Strongarm (upper body) and Sideswipe (lower body) figures. In a rarity among Legion Class figures, Heatseeker features shiny (but not chromed) silver paint details.
Like most Robots in Disguise toys, Heatseeker features a scan-badge oh his left vehicle door/robot arm, which is compatible to the mobile game. However, scanning the badge doesn't unlock the character, but instead gives the player 5 Ultra Sparks and a Ticket for Cryostase to unlock a random not-yet-unlocked character in the game.
Some units were erroneously packed with Legion Class Optimus Prime's instructions.
This figure, along with the rest of its wave, was only ever released internationally, with no confirmed sighting at US retail.

"Curses! Foiled Again!"
  • Heatseeker (One-Step Changer, 2017)
Released as part of the eleventh wave of One-Step Changers, Heatseeker is a heavy retool/redeco of the 2016 One-Step Strongarm figure, transforming from robot to SUV in one easy step, two if you count pushing the arms down. His scannable badge is located on his vehicle roof, accessible while in-package.
Due to how the legs are molded, Heatseeker cannot ride on Stomp & Chomp Grimlock.

"Slashmark, do something!"
  • Menasor (Team Combiner, 2017)
Available only in the Menasor Team Combiner 5-pack, this version of Heatseeker transforms into an off-road vehicle of made-up model in a few simple steps. He can also convert into a leg for a Team Combiner super-robot, though his nominal placement is as the left leg of Menasor. While the instructions tell you to raise the vehicle rear up to form the leg first before flipping out the robot legs/kneecaps, and when you transform him back into vehicle mode, you have to turn back the combiner feet/robot body first before you flip back his legs/kneecaps.
Heetseeker uses the universal connector joint shared by all Team Combiners and Crash Combiners, but since he can only form a leg in combined mode, this can lead to some interesting-looking combinations.
He is a retool of his teammate Slashmark, with a different headsculpt. Also, unlike the toys above; Heatseeker had both his left eye and his reticle painted red.

Notes

[edit]
  • Heatseeker's toy depicts him with a reticle in his robot form. However, he was never seen using such a device in the series.
  • Heatseeker's colour scheme and wild reckless personality essentially makes him the counterpart to Wildrider for this incarnation of the Stunticons.
