Mech Soldier was the name given to a small Takara toyline based around cheap transformable cars - concurrently available alongside the Diaclone and Micro Change toylines but presumably tying into neither - which would eventually become the Mini-spies in the original Transformers toyline.

These toys were powered by a friction motor, with each mold being available in either blue or red. They were sold on retail in a small cardboard stand for ¥480 each.

Mech Soldier moulds released as Transformers

None of the toys would get individual names in the American toyline, with the packaging simply calling them "Motorized Robot" instead.
