Megatron locks Optimus into his truck mode by making him collide with a super-magnet at Sam's college lab.

Synopsis

[edit]

Mudflap and Skids have been assigned to keep watch over Sam while Bumblebee is away on a mission. Optimus Prime finds the twins bickering with one another and asks whether Sam is safe or not. The twins tell Optimus that Sam's currently working on a supermagnet project at his school's science lab, and they suspect the a new research assistant to be a Decepticon spy. Meanwhile, Megatron put his latest scheme to destroy Optimus in motion. He ordered the research assistant (who indeed was a Decepticon spy) to send Optimus a false distress signal via Sam's computer. Having successfully lured Optimus to the lab, Megatron activated the powerful magnet, which locked Optimus in his vehicle mode. Though Optimus takes a beating, Sam shows up in time to turn the tables, activating the magnet once more, this time turning its power onto Megatron. Optimus and Sam then fled the scene as more Decepticons arrived, and returned to Autobot headquarters. After being repaired by Ratchet, Optimus informs the twins to continue their vigil, as the battle against the Decepticons is far from over.

Notes

[edit]
  • Several monitors display past battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons throughout the book, by taking imagery from previous storybooks. Ironhide, Bumblebee, William Lennox, Robert Epps and Mikaela Banes can be seen on these screens, but do not appear in the story proper.
