The secrets of the hidden treasure is finally revealed!

Synopsis

Bumblebee, Arcee, Primal and Cheetor venture into the ancient temple. Cheetor brings up the possibility of hidden traps just as Arcee discovers a large stone door. Using her visor to translate the inscription next to it, she discovers it's a quiz – the answer to which is "banana." Which is also the answer for every other door quiz they come across, making it a breeze for Primal to answer them all and clear their path. Though the path seemingly leads to a dead end, Primal just punches a hole into the stone wall to reveal the next room. This room contains an actual puzzle that requires ten red buttons on the floor to be pressed while avoiding various pitfalls and a group of statues swinging fearsome swords, axes, and maces. Cheetor puts his speed to good use and makes short work of it, though at the cost of losing some hair off his beast mode head to a statue's axe.

Finally, the quartet discover the source of the energy signal they've been tracking: a room full of gigantic energon crystals! But Arcee also points out a treasure chest sitting atop a high platform, which Bumblebee is able to swiftly retrieve. Unfortunately, one of the platforms breaks off and falls to the ground while Bumblebee jumps over it, and the impact causes the unstable energon crystals to start exploding! The quartet transform and book it just in time before the entire temple blows up behind their backs. Though everyone is safe, a strange noise coming from the treasure chest prompts Primal to open it... revealing the "treasure" is a cache of energon bombs, with the fuses already lit. The entire thing promptly explodes before anyone can react, forming a spectacular fireworks display.

In the far distance, Optimus Prime and Wheeljack spot the beautiful fireworks and enjoy themselves an amazing view, oblivious to the four adventurers' plight.

Notes

Transformers references

  • Again, this adventure starring Bumblebee, Arcee, Primal and Cheetor in a hunt for mysterious treasure in an ancient temple is a pretty transparent pastiche of the blockbuster film Rise of the Beasts, which premiered in Japan the previous month and which Go! Go! has been plugging all year.

Real-world references

  • Optimus and Wheeljack's traditional Japanese attire and the fan Wheeljack is holding suggests the two are partaking in the Tanabata festival, which happened around the same time as the publication of the previous issue this one is following up on.
