Jetfire loves the Arctic!
Synopsis
[edit]Optimus Prime and the Autobots visit the Arctic! Bumblebee finds the cold difficult to handle, but Jazz appears unbothered... right until he's hit by an icy blizzard. Jazz soon returns appropriately bundled up for the climate. The trio are then greeted by the towering Jetfire, the Autobots' arctic researcher. Extending a warm greeting to his friends, Jetfire eagerly leads the way, only for the ice to break under his weight and cause him to sink. He's completely nonchalant even as Bumblebee and Jazz panic, however – he actually enjoys taking walks on the ocean floor and observing the marine life from under the sea. He suggests the other Autobots join him, but they politely (and profusely) decline.
Soon they arrive at Jetfire's research base, where the Autobots are enraptured by the variety of wildlife they see. (Jazz even dances with a polar bear!) Jetfire regales a tale about how he can become so engrossed in observing the wildlife, he can get frozen in place and need the human researchers to thaw him out! Understandably, Optimus is concerned. But that's when Bumblebee spots a trio of baby seals, trapped on an ice floe and marooned far out at sea! Jetfire transforms into his jet alternate mode and blasts off to the rescue, scooping the whole floe out of the water and reuniting the seals with their families. As Jetfire breathes a sigh of relief, everyone's attention is drawn to the magnificent sight of a giant whale breaching the ocean surface! Jetfire marvels at the sight even as the massive splash from the whale douses all four Autobots, ready to return to base after a fulfilling day of discovery... unaware that the icy seawater has frozen all three of his friends solid!

Transformers references
[edit]- Jetfire makes his Go! Go! debut with a character model derived from the Masterpiece toy being advertised in Oda's usual style.
- Jetfire's position as the Autobots' arctic researcher here is a combination of his usual characterization as a pre-war scientist combined with a riff on his debut in the Generation 1 cartoon episode "Fire in the Sky," where he was famously discovered by the Decepticons frozen solid at the North Pole.
- The gag where Jetfire's human coworkers occasionally have to thaw him out when he spends too long enraptured with the local wildlife is of course a more direct homage to the events of the episode.
