Not all goes well for Megatron.
Synopsis
[edit]The Decepticons are attacking Cybertron! Bumblebee bravely rushes forth to meet Starscream and Megatron head-on. Although he misses Megatron as the Decepticon leader transforms into tank mode, his shots dislodge a sign behind the two villains; as Starscream primes a bomb to finish off the little Autobot, the sign whacks him on the head and sends the bomb bouncing out of his hands and straight into Megatron’s cannon. The subsequent backfire sends both Decepticons flying as Bumblebee celebrates his completely accidental victory!

Notes
[edit]- This comic was published in the July 2021 issue of TV Magazine and advertised the War for Cybertron Trilogy Megatron and Studio Series B-127 toys.
- It was re-run as the second February 2022 issue of the bi-monthly web comic, now advertising the nigh-identical Premium Finish WFC-02 Megatron toy with B-127 replaced by Premium Finish WFC-04 Starscream.
- This issue was published a yet third time in the first collected edition of Transformers Go! Go!, after which Kodansha subsequently took the rather cynical step of replacing its page on the TV Magazine website with a redirect to an issue advertising the physical release.
Transformers references
[edit]- Megatron finally makes good on the War for Cybertron Trilogy based body he's been sporting since the first issue here, albeit lacking the serious big boy battle damage required for 100% accuracy to the toys he's advertising.
- Left to her own devices for the first time, Oda cuts the theoretical small Japanese child collecting all these exclusives a break by basing her Starscream on the year-old retail Earthrise Starscream figure.
- This is one of the most subtle toy references in the comic, with Starscream identifiable as the Earthrise mold almost solely due to the detailing on his shoulders.
- The sign that bonks Starscream on the head advertises Maccadam's Old Oil House, the long-established watering hole that originally debuted in the Marvel Comics continuity.
