The Autobots face a new triple threat!
Synopsis
[edit]The Autobots Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Grimlock roll out in response to reports of a Decepticon wreaking havoc in a nearby city. The trio are promptly run over by a runaway tank before being strafed from above by a fighter jet, making Ratchet assume there are two Decepticons in the area. The Decepticon sees fit to correct him, though – he is in fact Blitzwing, the Triple Changer!
Cackling like an unhinged maniac, Blitzwing boasts about his incomparable strength as he goes on a total rampage against the Autobots. Even Bumblebee's attempt of using Grimlock as a ramp to jump on top of Blitzwing's jet mode ends in failure as Blitzwing simply switches to tank mode and crushes the Autobots by falling on top of them. Beaten and battered, the Autobots quickly put together a new plan to use Blitzwing's constant transformations against him. Grimlock transforms to robot mode and challenges Blitzwing to a sword fight, while Bumblebee baits him into retrieving a lost balloon in jet mode and Ratchet goads him to shoot up a scoreboard in tank mode. Eager to show off to his foes, Blitzwing keeps switching between all three of his modes in rapid succession to keep up...
...until his excitement gets to him and he gets stuck between modes as a robot with a tank turret for a head. He attempts to transform properly again, but only ends up contorting himself into increasingly bizarre configurations. His final attempt ends up in a messy half-tank half-jet jumble of parts, much to the Autobots' raucous laughter. Left without options, Blitzwing overloads himself and causes a spectacular explosion, the force of the blast sending him flying away into the distance as the aghast Autobots look on.

Notes
[edit]- This story was published as the August 2025 issue of the web comic and advertised Legacy Blitzwing, Studio Series Rise of the Beasts Bumblebee, Bumblebee Ratchet, and '86 Grimlock, the Transformers Fan Book 2024, and the first collected edition of Go! Go!.
Transformers references
[edit]- Blitzwing debuts here sporting a character model based on his Legacy toy being advertised down to the transformation scheme in Oda's usual toy-accurate style, albeit with a slight tweak for a more Generation 1 cartoon-derived chest coloration not unlike the mold's Dramatic Capture Series iteration.
- His unhinged maniac personality appears to take cues from his Animated counterpart's "Random" persona.
- Grimlock wields his energo-sword, which is based on the accessory included with Studio Series 86 Swoop intended to supplement the same toyline's Grimlock. However, in the comic the blade is a different color than the hilt, whereas the toy's sword is a uniform red.
- Ratchet goading Blitzwing into shooting up a scoreboard in tank mode is a reference to "Triple Takeover", though the effect Blitzwing leaves on the scoreboard is different.
- The gang's victory over Blitzwing in this issue is pulled from a little-used facet of the bio for his original Generation 1 toy wherein he can get stuck between modes when over-excited.
Continuity notes
[edit]- Grimlock transforms into robot mode in this issue, an extremely rare occurrence in Go! Go!.
