Inferno's hotheadedness threatens his friendship with Red Alert.

Synopsis

[edit]

Autobot firefighter Inferno rushes headlong into a burning building, but in his zeal he ignores the instructions of his partner, Red Alert, who is subsequently injured in a roof collapse. The accident hurts Red Alert emotionally more than physically, and he shuts himself in his room to sulk over his partner's negligence, causing Inferno to feel like a total jerk. Optimus Prime comforts Inferno by assuring him everyone makes mistakes and dwelling on it instead of accomplishing something isn't what Red Alert would want, which lets the firefighter regain his composure just in time for another fire alarm.

This time fighting the flames head-on proves impossible, but Inferno suddenly gets a call from a recovered Red Alert, who instructs him to move to the building's west upper floors where the fire will be easier to extinguish. Once the building is saved, Inferno apologizes to Red Alert, who gladly forgives him and in turn apologizes for getting all sulky. Optimus Prime reflects that this ability to forgive one another and strengthen your bonds so easily is what being an Autobot is all about.

Notes

Transformers references

[edit]
  • Inferno and Red Alert's relationship is inspired by the Generation 1 cartoon episode "Auto Berserk". Further references are made to this episode by the Negavator's appearance in panel three and Red Alert's sparking helmet.
  • After his head injury, Red Alert switches from his black helmet, based on Generation 1 Red Alert's toy, to a red one based on his cartoon appearance.
  • Carzap is standing next to a pile of blocks because he's based on an unreleased toy that was to be part of Block Town, the first (proposed) line to combine Transformers with building blocks.
  • Energon Prowl's Japanese name is Red Alert, so Red Alert and Inferno are watching Red Alert and Inferno reconcile.
