Xal is a mythical figure in Cybertronian lore.

Fiction

Marvel Generation 2 comic

[edit]
Cast in the name of God, ye guilty.

On a distant planet, the Cybertronian Empire commander Mindset led a systematic slaughter of the planet's primitive man-animals as part of commander Jhiaxus's plot to draw out Optimus Prime's rebel Autobot forces.

In the midst of their genocide, Mindset and his forces were set upon by the Swarm. Mindset first swore by "the creator" as he watched the inky mass move to consume his troops; when he was the only one left, Mindset called upon great Xal to protect him.

Mindset was then devoured by the Swarm. Swarm

Bumblebee thanked Xal that Ratchet was able to repair him after Sari stabbed him.

Xal was one of ten figures that made up the Cybertronian zodiac. His associated aspect was "trickery" and assigned orbital cycle was Ferruneon. His constellation forms a sword. Both Kup and Bumblebee swore by his name. The AllSpark Almanac II

Ask Vector Prime

[edit]

Vector Prime had never encountered Xal and wasn't sure what Xal was, but suggested several possibilities: the first Seeker, another name for the Liege Maximo, an intruder from the Omniverse, or perhaps just a fable. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/06/12

Transformers Universe

Conduit's Xal Blaster Rifle was presumably named for the actual Xal. Conduit's Transformers Universe profile

Notes

[edit]
  • "X'Hal" was a frequent interjection used by the character Starfire during the extremely popular 1980s Marv Wolfman/George Perez run of New Teen Titans comics. Mindset swearing by "Xal" was presumably a reference to this practice.
