The young Headmaster Warriors must rescue Brainstorm and Tatsuya from the clutches of Scorponok.
Synopsis
[edit]On the way back from an investigation on Mars, Brainstorm and Tatsuya are intercepted and kidnapped by Scorponok's gigantic transtector. Rodimus Prime and Chromedome are concerned with the lack of contact from their comrade when Scorponok contacts them, threatening the Autobots to deliver the plans for their developing superweapon, the Solar Cannon, to the planet Cyber in exchange for the two hostages. Rodimus is reculant to just turn over the blueprints, but a trio of "new Headmasters"—Loafer, Rodney, and Toraizer—volunteer for a rescue mission, to which Rodimus agrees to.
The Autobot Master Warriors travel to the remote Cyber. Upon landing, Rodney fusses about wanting to get the job done and over with, not liking the jungle they're exploring. They're soon met with the Terrorcon Cutthroat. After battle starts with the Decepticon, Loafer tells Rodney to take to the air, but Rodney finds himself alone in the sky, wondering where his teammates are while being shot at by the Terrorcon. Seizing the opportunity, Loafer ambushes Cutthroat; while the Autobot tries shooting at his enemy, a space spider comes into sight and frightens the Terrorcon. Loafer throws the spider on Cutthroat, causing him to literally explode out of fear. Rodney berates Loafer for not following him into the sky, but Loafer says he was just using him as bait, angering his teammate.
Blot makes his appearance, spewing flame from his nose-mouth. To handle the ogre, the Headmaster trio enact "Attack A", sending in the unfortunate Rodney to attack first, exposing him to counterattack. This works in distracting Blot, who doesn't have time to react to Torazier jumping on Rodney, and then Loafer jumping on Torazier to deliver a Finish Bazooka shot that defeats the Decepticon. The failure of his two subordinates forces Hun-Gurrr to take matters into his own mouths and attack the Autobots. Undaunted by the mighty twin-headed dragon, the three combine their strength in "Attack Z" to bring down Hun-Gurrr and shoot his exposed underside, resulting in a fiery explosion that consumes the Terrorcon leader.
Leaving the forest into a desert, the Headmasters find a set of strange structures. A hole opens in the ground for Toraizer to fall into while the remaining two are captured by strange traps emerging from the structures. Falling into the Decepticon base, Toraizer finds Brainstorm and Tatsuya. Their reunion is short-lived when the base emerges from the sand to reveal itself as Scorponok's transtector, Megazarak! While Scoponok demands the Solar Cannon blueprints, Rodney uses his strength to break himself and Loafer out of their restraints. Contacted by Toraizer that he's found the hostages, the two wonder if they're able to stand up to the might of Megazarak. While escaping with Brainstorm and Toraizer, Tatsuya spots a component in one of Megazarak's walls and takes it with him as they finally exit the gigantic scorpion. Reunited, the Headmaster trio transform into their head modes. Megazarak is about to strike when he suddenly becomes immobile—the component Tatsuya removed was necessary for proper function. Finding their opening, the Autobot heads perform the Master Typhoon, circling Megazarak in an energy-powered tornado that destroys the transtector and sending Scorponok fleeing. Their mission done, the Autobots and their human ally celebrate.

Notes
[edit]- "The Young Headmaster Warrior Trio Arrive!" is likely just a tagline for the title page, but we need a better title than another The Headmasters #1, so.
