Confederacy

The Confederacy of Independent Systems is a breakaway political entity in the Galaxy Far Far Away portion of an unknown continuity family.

In response to flagrant corruption within the Galactic Republic's Senate and bureaucracy, many worlds finally opted to submit articles of secession. These disgruntled planets were joined by some of the mercantile guilds, hoping to create a "free trade zone" of minimal government influence, forming the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In response to increasing tension between the Republic and the breakaway worlds, the guilds began construction of an army of machines, to be led by a Jedi-hunter known as General Grievous. Its members are often referred to as the Seperatists by the Galactic Republic and its supporters.

It was rumoured by some in the Republic that the secessions were the work of the Sith Lords, stirring the galaxy up after a long period of dormancy. Many high-ranking Confederates, while no friends to the Jedi (owing to their defense of the Republic), believed the propaganda that a Sith Lord was puppeting the Republic government from the highest levels. The truth of the matter will likely be written by the winner in the conflict....
