Galactic Republic

Although the Galactic Republic (often known by its citizens simply as "The Republic", as quoted above) may not comprise the entirety of its home galaxy, it is (even with a significant portion of its space having recently seceded) a very large body, and it has grown and endured for many generations. With the Jedi Order serving as protectors and peacekeepers, the Republic stands for freedom and justice for all sentient beings.
Of late, however, institutional corruption and the unchecked power of large commercial guilds have taken their toll on the Republic's ideals. And now, the shadow of galactic-scale war looms over all. As the Republic's Senate and loyalist corporations craft a grand army of mass-produced humans and multi-mode combat machines, with the Jedi Knights to lead it, will the ideals of the Republic endure? Or will this war mark the end of a civilization?
