If you do a good deed for the Autobots, such as saving their lives, don't be surprised if you are named an Honorary Autobot. The exact requirements and privileges that go along with the title are unclear, but it's likely that once you've risked your life for the Autobots, you'll probably be called on to do it again.

At great risk to themselves, Spike Witwicky and Carly traveled to Cybertron to retrieve the Dinobots and the rare element Cybertonium to heal the Autobots from a deficiency of the metal. During this adventure they were chased, shot at, imprisoned and nearly crushed. Upon their return, Optimus Prime named them Honorary Autobots during a short ceremony and gave them shiny medals. Ratchet informed Hunter O'Nion, Verity Carlo, and Jimmy Pink that they were being returned to their regular lives. During the previous days they were chased, shot at, nearly blown up several times, and nearly buried alive.
