Talk:Transformers: The War Within
Ichikawa quote
I question the validity of using a quote that is not only poorly translated (by admission within the very post from which it came), but is also partly out of context. To me, using it like this implies 1) Ichikawa-san made the statement himself in that poor English, and 2) he unreservedly praised "War Within". Neither is true. One MIGHT argue that by following the reference link, full context may be realized—except you can't see the link unless you edit the page. Had I not happened to notice this edit and check the "differences" view out of curiosity, I might never have known the link was there.--Apcog 02:58, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- The link is now showing up for me. Is it for you? (I was attempting to fix this known bug involving URL's, I failed... so I applied a band-aid.)
- You are correct about the unreserved praise, but I included the quote precisely because I enjoy the lousy translation. Would it be acceptable if the link noted this was a bad web-translation of his review? -Derik 03:17, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- The link does show up now, yes. I considered adding some explanation within the article, but if you have to explain "this isn't the entire context of what he said, plus it's a poor translation," isn't that going to undermine the whole point of using that quote?--Apcog 06:35, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm thinking it would be good to set the DEFAULTSORT of this article to "War Within". Would there be any problem with that? --Loudstone 16:19, 20 April 2009 (EDT)
