Magnus is the highest rank an Autobot can achieve, conferring the title of Supreme Commander of the Autobot military, and the chairbotship of the Autobot High Council. It is added to the end of the Autobot's name, replacing their previous title; and they are given the Magnus Hammer as a symbol of office.

Ultra Magnus held the position for over four million stellar cycles, from the Great War onward, until an attack by Shockwave left him on spark support. As a result, Sentinel Prime was appointed acting Magnus. Xal help them all...
