The U.S.S. Hama was a battleship that was presumably destroyed Cobra and the Decepticons in 1939. After its destruction, a map of the Fera Islands, as well as the emblems of the Decepticons and Cobra, were carved into a fragment of its hull by Starscream and Destro. The fragment ended up at Sumbergh RAF Base on the Shetland Islands, where it directed the nascent G.I. Joe team to the hiding place of the Autobots.

Transformers (2007) film

Shortly after the United States learned of the devastating attack on the SOCCENT Forward Operations Base in Qatar, the President dispatched battle groups to the Arabian Gulf and the Yellow Sea, not knowing which of their potential enemies had attacked them.

After the attack on Air Force One which succeeded in both hacking the military network and introducing a virus into the system, Admiral Brigham opined to the assembled Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense John Keller that the only countries with this sort of capability would be Russia, North Korea and perhaps China. He was refuted by Maggie Madsen (the young analyst who detected the hack) who explained that the capabilities required to hack their systems at such speed were beyond known technology. Brigham retorted by showing the increased North Korean naval activity, but was not impressed with Madsen pointed out that it was probably a precaution against the US's own naval movements.

Later, when Secretary Keller discovered that no foreign power on Earth was responsible for the events in Qatar, he ordered the battle groups to turn their ships around and return to US territory immediately.

After the defeat of the Decepticons in Mission City, the Navy dumped the dead aliens into the Atlantic Ocean's Laurentian Abyss. Transformers (2007)

Notable personnel

Admiral Brigham oversaw U.S. Navy operations at the Pentagon.

U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72)

The U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln is the fifth Nimitz-class supercarrier in the US Navy. She is the second Navy ship named after former president Abraham Lincoln.

The U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln's battle group was one of those that were sent regional hot spots shortly after the attack on SOCCENT Qatar. They returned to United States territorial waters after the Pentagon learned that no other nation was responsible for the attack.

Footage of the carrier groups was unaltered footage of modern carrier groups that had been filmed for one of Michael Bay's previous films, Pearl Harbor.
U.S.S. Shoup (DDG-86)

The U.S.S. Shoup is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the US Navy. The ship was named for General David M. Shoup (1904–1983), the 22nd Commandant of the Marine Corps.

When the US Government decided to dispose of the Decepticon remains, the U.S.S. Shoup was tasked with dumping Megatron and Blackout's bodies into the Laurentian Abyss.

SH-60 Seahawk

The Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk is a multi-mission United States Navy helicopter based on the airframe of the United States Army UH-60 Black Hawk.

Two Seahawks pulled Megatron's body from the aft deck of the U.S.S. Shoup and dropped him into the Atlantic Ocean.

Revenge of the Fallen (film)

U.S.S. Topeka (SSN-754)

The U.S.S. Topeka is a Los Angeles-class submarine, and the third US Navy ship to be named for Topeka, Kansas.

The Topeka was on patrol in the Atlantic ocean when her crew detected four large objects rapidly descending towards the bottom of the Laurentian Abyss, where the remains of Megatron lay. Soon afterwards, they detected five objects headed straight for them and tried to engage emergency manuevers, but the Topeka was destroyed when the resurrected Megatron collided with and ruptured her hull.

At least one shot was recycled footage from Crimson Tide, specifcally the stern view of the sub trailing a Towed Sonar Array; The distinctive hump over the top of the sub is the Missile compartment of an Wikipedia:Ohio class Ballistic Missile submarine.
U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)

The U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt is the fourth Nimitz-class super carrier in the US Navy, named for President Theodore Roosevelt.

During The Fallen's invasion of Earth, Decepticon transition forms under his command hurtled down from space and destroyed the Theodore Roosevelt off the east coast of the United States. The Fallen himself clambered onto the stern of the broken ship in victory as it sank beneath the waves.

Footage for the transition forms flying down towards the carrier group was once again the unaltered footage of the modern U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln shot for Pearl Harbor. One can tell by the identical formation and disposition of the ships in the group (albeit seen from a different angle) to those in the overhead fleet shot from the 2007 Transformers movie. However, when the transition forms crash into the carrier, the footage used is of the U.S.S. John C. Stennis (CVN-74), as the carrier only carries aircraft currently serving in the US Navy, and was the carrier used for filming. The carrier that is reported sinking, however, is the Theodore Roosevelt. The CGI shots of the damaged and later sinking carrier correctly show the hull number 71; possibly since it was easy to remove the crossbar from a 4 to create a 1.
U.S.S. John C. Stennis (CVN-74)

The U.S.S. John C. Stennis is the seventh Nimitz-class supercarrier in the US Navy, named for Senator John C. Stennis of Mississippi.

During the climactic battle in Egypt, former Sector Seven agent Seymour Simmons radioed the John C. Stennis to ask for an urgent strike against the Decepticon Devastator, who was smashing his way into the Great Pyramid of Giza to find the solar harvester. The dubious captain of the Stennis was convinced to order the attack when Simmons provided his Sector Seven credentials, his intimate knowledge of secret military hardware, and the warning of the possible death toll that would occur if they failed.

After the defeat of the Decepticons, the Autobots and their human friends were transported home aboard the Stennis.

U.S.S. Kidd (DDG-100)

The U.S.S. Kidd is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the US Navy. The ship was named for Admiral Issac C. Kidd, an admiral who died aboard U.S.S. Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor

After convincing the captain of the Stennis, Seymour Simmons arranged to have the Kidd fire her classified prototype railgun at Devastator. The high-velocity round smashed the Decepticon's left arm to pieces, sending him tumbling down to the ground, where he broke up.

While dialouge mentions U.S.S. Kidd, the ship actually shown is U.S.S. Preble (DDG-88), a destroyer that was part of U.S.S. John C. Stennis (CVN-74) carrier group during filming. The comic adaptation furthermore depicts the previous U.S.S. Kidd, now serving in the Navy of Taiwan.

Trivia

  • The some of the members of Captain Lennox's Ranger team (Luis Echagarruga, Patrick Mulderrig, Brian Shehan and Michael Trisler) are actually currently serving members of the US Navy SEALs, while on-set military advisor Harry Humpries was a former Navy SEAL. They assisted the actors in their three days of basic training at Fort Irwin, in California as seen in the Transformers DVD segment titled "I Fight Giant Robots".
