This article is about the live-action-movie continuity helicopter. For the Cybertron-series helicopter, see Evac (Cybertron).
Evac is an Autobot from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family.
Leapin' lifters, I think they need an airlift!

Evac is fearless in the face of danger, and is wholly devoted to the protection of sentient life; two qualities that make him ideally suited for search and rescue missions. When he received Optimus Prime's signal summoning all remaining Autobots to Earth, he came immediately to help humanity rebuild in the aftermath of their devastating battle with the Decepticons.

Reason: Made obsolete
The following events occur in a splinter timeline where Megatron won the battle of Mission City.
"Take that, forces of nature! And THAT!"

Member of a scientific specialist group, Evac and his team were called to Earth in the hope they could find a way of stopping its All Spark-caused apocalypse. Dark Spark Most of their time ended up being spent on damage limitation, with Evac helping evacuate humans from devastated areas. Return to Cybertron: Part 1 He also used his firepower to make a lava-ditch when a volcano threatened to take out Shallowater, Texas. Return to Cybertron: Part 2

Optimus keeps thinking that Evac runs the specialist unit, even though he doesn't. Camshaft, who actually did the leader work in the team's appearances, must get annoyed about this.

In the mission to rescue Mikaela Banes, Evac did command the team (Optimus is watching, better do some work!) and played the part of evacuating Mikaela from the Decepticon HQ. The Decepticon Who Haunted Himself

In the final strike, it was Evac in charge again (ah, finally taking responsibility, eh?), this time of rigging Cybertron's Unicron-gifted teleportation engines so that, once the Decepticons were on the planet, it could be warped away to the far reaches of space. Revolution Part 3

As part of the "AllSpark Power" portion of the movie line, Evac is a retool of the Voyager Blackout, transforming into a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low heavy-lift helicopter in rescue helicopter colors. An aft "cage" compartment can be opened to release a small rescue raft, which becomes a hand-held gun for robot mode. A button on the very end of his tail can be pressed in a geared action to rotate his rotor blades, but this feature really comes into play when the user attaches the Deluxe-class Scorponok figure to the bottom of Evac's helicopter mode via two pegs. A geared shaft linked to the rotor mechanism connects to a geared peg on Scorponok's back. Thus, pressing the button on Evac's tail not only rotates his blades, but also rotates Scorponok's pincers, though this gimmick is actually easier to activate by rotating the geared wheel on Scorponok's undercarriage.
During transformation, Evac's Automorphing gimmick is activated when the user swings down his legs, which in turn flips the chest section his head is mounted upon up and into position. Another, less impressive Automorph is in his legs - If you pull his knees down, his shin armor pops out a bit. The figure's retooling involved a new head and new hands that can hold standard weapon pegs such as the raft which replaced the Scorponok miniature.
Evac was later redecoed for in the Toys 'R' Us-exclusive Masters of Metallikato battle pack as Whirl, for the Revenge of the Fallen toyline.

Trivia

  • According to the running commentary of the 2007 movie done by Aaron Archer and Jared Wade at BotCon 2008, Hasbro's creation of Evac was prompted by the (ultimately unused) idea that there would be at least one Coast Guard helicopter featured in the film. They implied that, had it been used, it would have been the helicopter that attempted to move Sam Witwicky and the All Spark out of Mission City.
