You can probably buy this at the liquor store.

The biggest movie of last summer was released to DVD in North America on October 20th, 2009. Are you prepared? Do you know your exclusive transforming case from your extra seconds of metal smashy-smashy? Here's what you need to know:

Region 1

General Retail Release

Hundreds of retail chains across the United States are offering ROTF for sale, from grocery stores to pharmacies to gas stations. There are essentially four versions of ROTF available for Region 1 purchase - the single-disc DVD, the two-disc "special edition" available on Blu-Ray or DVD, and the Walmart-exclusive "Big Screen Edition" which is the only version containing the IMAX-exclusive footage (but is otherwise identical to the Special Edition).

Here's everything you could ever want to know about the different releases:

Single-disc release - (approximately $15.00)

  • All editions of ROTF include the following:
    • Revenge of the Fallen in widescreen format
    • English, French and Spanish language tracks
    • English, French and Spanish subtitles
  • There appears to be no single-disc Blu-Ray release, however, disc one of the Blu-Ray Special Edition is in 1080p format, upgrades the audio tracks to 5.1 Dolby Digital and adds a Brazilian Portugese subtitle track.
You can probably buy this at the nicer, larger, liquor store.

Two-disc Special Edition - (approximately $22.00)

  • This version includes all the features above, a Michael Bay, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci commentary track plus a second disc containing:
    • Extended scenes
    • Linkin Park music video for "New Divide"
    • A ton of documentaries, as follows:
      • The Human Factor: Exacting Revenge of the Fallen
      • Seeds of Vengeance - Development and Design
      • Domestic Destruction - Production: United States
      • Joint Operations - Production: Military
      • Wonders of the World - Production: Middle East
      • Start Making Sense - Editing
      • Under the Gun - Visual Effects
      • Running the Gauntlet - Post-Production and Release
      • A Day With Bay - Tokyo
      • 25 Years of Transformers
      • Deconstructing Visual Bayhem
    • N.E.S.T. Transformers Data Hub; a collection of concept art
  • The Blu-Ray version (approximately $25.00) adds the following:
    • The Allspark Experiment mini-game
    • 3-D turnaround galleries of the robot designs
    • A Transformers timeline
    • Some more documentaries:
      • Giant Effing Movie
      • The Matrix of Marketing

What's needed: Are there any exclusive releases for other markets? Europe? Australasia? We need pics of everything, too.
