The biggest movie of last summer was released to DVD in North America on October 20th, 2009. Are you prepared? Do you know your exclusive transforming case from your extra seconds of metal smashy-smashy? Here's what you need to know:
Hundreds of retail chains across the United States are offering ROTF for sale, from grocery stores to pharmacies to gas stations. There are essentially four versions of ROTF available for Region 1 purchase - the single-disc DVD, the two-disc "special edition" available on Blu-Ray or DVD, and the Walmart-exclusive "Big Screen Edition" which is the only version containing the IMAX-exclusive footage (but is otherwise identical to the Special Edition).
Here's everything you could ever want to know about the different releases:
Single-disc release - (approximately $15.00)
All editions of ROTF include the following:
Revenge of the Fallen in widescreen format
English, French and Spanish language tracks
English, French and Spanish subtitles
There appears to be no single-disc Blu-Ray release, however, disc one of the Blu-Ray Special Edition is in 1080p format, upgrades the audio tracks to 5.1 Dolby Digital and adds a Brazilian Portugese subtitle track.
You can probably buy this at the nicer, larger, liquor store.
We're not playing favorites... but let's face it; this is the one you want.
Available with either the DVD ($20.86) or Blu-Ray ($23.32) versions of the 2-disc Special Edition
This is the only home video release to include the IMAX-exclusive ROTF footage, so if you want to see faces ripped off in glorious über-detail, this is the one to go for.
Zellers $10 Toy Coupon ($13.49 limited-time offer)
Includes an unspecified DVD edition of ROTF and a coupon for $10 off a future toy purchase.
Region 2
The general release versions are essentially similar to the Region 1 versions, with the appropriate language changes (confirm details)
United Kingdom Retailer Exclusives
HMV
Both the two-disc DVD (£29.99) and Blu-Ray (£31.99) versions are available with Target's Transforming Bumblebee Case.

These are all totally awesome and totally expensive, but you're going to have to wait until December 18 to get them.
Black Bumblebee Edition - ¥4,536
DVD or Blu-Ray only, includes a black redeco of Legends-class Bumblebee. Available at multiple retailers, also in combination with additional exclusives as listed below.
