- How exhaustive are we going to even try to be on iconic characters who have been merchandised to Pluto and back for a quarter of a century? If we're including a tent, should we include t-shirts (which would probably necessitate another 2 or 3 pages all their own)? Birthday cards? The G1 Megs merch page began in the post-Dreamwave era, until yesterday when I added that crazy gun/radio thing from 1984. This could go on for a LONG LONG TIME, so we should probably come up with real guidelines about what we are counting as merchandise and if there should be some arbitrary limit on number of items. --Thylacine 2000 11:22, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- I think t-shirts could be grouped by a broad category. "Such and such company produced a variety of t-shirts under license from Hasbro." Maybe the t-shirt company could get their own page with a full list of shirt designs, and it's listed like "t-shirts: see (whatever the company's name is)." Birthday cards are already covered (tentatively, at least) under American Greetings, although I'm only really updating that list as either I see 'em or as Lewis Brooks updates his massive massive list of them. (which, incidentally, have we referred to Lewis Brooks' GIGANTIC merchandise archive as a reference here? - I'm less inclined to include items that are generic "Transformers" branded things that just happen to have a character's picture on them (bedclothes, t-shirts, etc). I think we should really be looking at specific character-themed merchandise, like things sculpted in the characters' likenesses, or things that explicitly scream the characater's name at you. - Chris McFeely 11:32, 2 December 2009 (EST)

- I'm willing to make an exception for Underoos, because a) Optimus Prime underpants and b) that commercial for them which showed a kid turning into an animated Optimus Prime as he pulled them on (which I think is on youtube and should probably be documented somehow anyway). --Monzo 14:06, 2 December 2009 (EST)
