Talk:Transformers: Universe (2003 toyline)
Merits of this page
This page is bullshit. It's badly-written and full of opinions, not facts. In fact, I question even HAVING a (toyline) page for any given franchise/line. --M Sipher 07:17, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- While I'm inclined to agree that this page needs vast revision, I don't see why a (toyline) page, arguably the most factually verifiable of any kind of information we could put *in* this encyclopedia, would be inappropriate. Some have argued that toy lists already exist elsewhere on the web, and this is certainly true. But I do not see this as sufficient reason to not have (toyline) pages at all. All that means (to me) is that the focus of this Wiki should be on other aspects not already covered elsewhere.--G.B. Blackrock 14:17, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- I also agree that the current text blows. However, I am pretty attached to the idea of the "(toyline)" pages. Most Transformers franchises consist of several elements, with the toyline being only one part. The toyline is typically the franchise's raison d'etre, but is not necessarily the aspect of the franchise that is of most interest or even of most import. When I look at an article which is called, simply, "Robots in Disguise", I don't think it should be about the RiD toyline and provide a link to the RiD cartoon article. It should either be about both of them, or it should be little more than a disambiguation. My initial intent -- which admittedly I haven't made all that clear through example articles -- is to have an "overview" article for every franchise which synthesizes ideas and info about all of the franchise's components (toys, fiction, etc.), and more narrowly-targeted articles on each of those components. Anyway, I (obviously) vote "no" on deletion. The article needs work, but I think it should exist. --Steve-o 04:34, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
I've made some modifications as noted above, and removed the tobedeleted template. The list of toys has been imported (and removed) from the Universe page, and needs a lot of work. At least some of the toys listed under Mini-Cons are not actually Mini-Cons. I don't have a good enough memory of what names have been used where and when to fix it myself. The wikilinks also need to be redirected to the appropriate character pages. At least some of that I can do myself. --Steve-o 05:23, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Is Longhorn actually Ramulus?
His link in this article indicates that to be so. But where is the evidence? I haven't read Universe #3, so unless there's something in that issue or somewhere else that indicates so, Longhorn is not Ramulus by default. If it is true, I'd like some info added to Ram's page. Thanks. --Crockalley 01:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Mini-Con edits
An anonymous user recently made a string of edits (aggregated diff here) to change a bunch of links for Mini-Con characters to point to their Armada versions. I have no idea whether this is correct or not, but it was a substantial "this are the same guys" type edit by an anon so I figured I would point it out so somebody who pays attention to such things (Siph or LV) can comment. --Steve-o 00:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's my impression that the current policy as far as un-bio'd Universe guys goes "Same name attached to a body that name's had before = same guy". So yeah, pretty much all the pack-in Minis would point to the Armada incarnations' pages. About the only exceptions I can see would be the Battle in a Box four, since their PARTNERS got enough bio to make one think the Minis must be alternate-universe incarnations. --M Sipher 00:53, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- It sure took me forever to notice this, but one of those edits was bad, in that it changed the Tankor pointer from "Tankor (Universe Decepticon)" to "Tankor (Universe)", which is useless and doesn't exist because there's an Autobot TFU Tankor (part of Rail Racer). I fixed that. -LV 22:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Fixed
I went ahead and fixed a lot of the red links for this page. Hope that's not a problem.--Autobotx1010 03:53, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Standard
1) This page is completely out of whack with the other toyline pages, which are broken down by year, then faction, then size class. Somebody who knows more than I about Universe needs to tackle this.
2) Hehehe. In retrospect, the discussion at the top of this page is pretty amusing. -- Repowers 21:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
