Continuity

This story seems to take place in Generation 1 cartoon continuity. Really? My assumption upon reading the preview was that it was a new universe of its own, one that's clearly influenced by the G1 cartoon continuity to be sure, but nothing jumps out at me that says it is said continuity. --KilMichaelMcC 18:44, 14 April 2009 (EDT)

Nothing in it contradicts the cartoon continuity, and quite a few things support it. I'm not sure how we could prove it further, as even if it showed us the events of an entire episode or two, something else could have been different off-panel! ...david, it's an alternate retelling of the ship battle from TF:TM. And instead of inverting polarities, they duck into a nebula so Kup can tell a story.

Well, Pete Sinclair says it's not intended to be the scene from the movie. He also says it's merely cartoonish continuity, and not specifically THE cartoon continuity. Watch me pick and choose my author intent. --ItsWalky 12:25, 15 April 2009 (EDT)

Maybe it's the missing "Kup's shuttle story" scene, of which a little bit is in that original '80s promo reel on the 20th anniversary DVD release (you know, the Diaclone Magnus / "in the spirit of Star Wars!" thing). And all their different bodies are like the TMS preliminary / mistaken animation colors that everybody else would have had in those 5 minutes if it hadn't been edited out ;) --Thylacine 2000 12:46, 15 April 2009 (EDT)

Ah, so this attack is divorced from the events of the movie. That's nothing new-- Timelines had Ironhide dying in a massacre on Moon Base 4 around that time... Timelines does seems infatuated with the TF Multiverse's ability to make arbitrary backstory changes that add nothing to the story they're telling except to remind the reader we're not really in the universe that's purportedly being written about. Sort of. I mean, we should note it. But unless the story makes it clear, that's merely author intent. Lord knows author intent is a double-edged sword. Some day I'll find a way to prove that Universe Longhorn is Wreckers Ramulus beyond the artist's say-so... --ItsWalky 13:54, 15 April 2009 (EDT)

Fiction/Toy page?

Since we now have "The Coming Storm" and the next two TFCC story arcs that are going to take place in this universe, plus any possible related prose stories... any objection to doing what we did with the SG issue and trying to split off a separate franchise page with the toys and fiction that we can properly link to for continuity purposes?
Or is it technically considered squarely in Sunbow continuity? That actually seems messier in terms of how to organize it, though (since I'd think we'd have to treat it like the Marvel UK stuff in the Fiction sections or something...) --Jeysie 15:03, 15 March 2010 (EDT)

We don't have a Marvel Comics toy page. Shattered Glass is different because its toys are actually repurposed for a distinct continuity that acts in part like a distinct continuity family. Wings of Honor toys aren't repurposed. They're just either characters as themselves or non-existent redecos/retools of toys as existing characters. --ItsWalky 16:05, 15 March 2010 (EDT)

You kind of missed my point. I'm mainly curious about where the fiction should go in terms of whenever we have to say "This story is in Wings of Honor" continuity. Always linking to this issue page is awkward, IMHO, so I was wondering if we should have some sort of proper WoH continuity page, or if it really is considered just a part of Sunbow completely (in which case I'd be curious how to handle that).

If we do need a separate page but the WoH toys wouldn't go on it, then fine, we'd call it, uh, "Wings of Honor (fiction)" or "Wings of Honor Generation 1 continuity" or such, but your answer about the toys is kind of missing my actual question. --Jeysie 16:19, 15 March 2010 (EDT)
