MediaWiki talk:Privacy policy
From MediaWiki
Is it too much to suggest that, as a page linked from every other page on the Wiki, there should be something here?
Hell, even if it wasn't, it would probably *still* be a good idea... - SanityOrMadness 18:18, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
- Hrm, I take it the Transformers Wiki: and Help: pages weren't restored with everything else. Though there's no cache page in the big zip for Privacy Policy, so I'm not sure what happened to it (assuming there was ever a page here!) --abates 19:25, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
- They weren't automatically reposted. And every non-Main article in the big zip file is what I could find by doing a search for "http://tfwiki.net/wiki/(namespace):" on Google. --Jeysie 21:19, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
So I guess we still don't have a privacy policy? --FFN 04:45, 11 November 2009 (EST)
AFAIK, we never did. -Derik 06:19, 11 November 2009 (EST)
Hoy. I have drafted lots of yammering. It could probably be stronger delineated between the policy (first section) and a meta-outline of data gathered (second) and noted (third). Have at it. -Derik 08:15, 11 November 2009 (EST)
- You forgot to mention the CheckUser extension, which can be used to check if multiple accounts have been created using a single IP address. ---Blackout- 08:32, 11 November 2009 (EST)
Nuke it
This privacy policy accomplishes nothing. I say we nuke it and start over.--Jimsorenson 12:34, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
- Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?--Jimsorenson 14:23, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- I had the same problem getting anyone interested in the privacy policy back then, which I think is why Derik probably just wrote that one and stuck it up there. I would like to see it replaced with something better, but I'd rather we created that something better before nuking the existing one. --abates 18:07, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- I think the current one is SO bad as to be worse than useless. We shouldn't be using this space to pontificate about the lack of online privacy. In this case, I think having a bad privacy policy is a LOT worse for us than having NO privacy policy.--Jimsorenson 18:14, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
