Why are we linking to the G1 characters? I thought this was supposed to be something new. Dead Metal 04:10, 11 December 2009 (EST)

There's really no way of knowing for sure until we have more information about the storyline and characters. --KilMichaelMcC 14:20, 11 December 2009 (EST)
I really, really doubt they won't be Primax characters, new continuity or not. --ItsWalky 14:50, 11 December 2009 (EST)
Agree that's that most likely the case. But I do sort of wonder if maybe this game is going to end up being some sort of prequel-y tie-in to the new cartoon/franchise that's coming. --KilMichaelMcC 18:15, 11 December 2009 (EST)

It does seem like a seperate continuity

I mean, seriously different. Should we ask Hasbro?

Well, not sure about asking Hasbro, we'll know soon enough one way or the other. But IMO, bad information is worse than no information. Assuming that these guys are G1 is just that - an assumption. We should tread lightly. --Jimsorenson 18:29, 11 December 2009 (EST)
They use the G1 logo, Cybertron's from Alpha Centauri, and the roster includes only G1 dudes. I'd say "assumption" isn't really strong enough of a word. --ItsWalky 18:52, 11 December 2009 (EST)
I think we should wait for a confirmation that it's a G1 universe before making assumptions. The roster so far only includes G1 dudes. If we made that assumption, the movieverse would be part of G1 (early on only G1 based characters were announced. It could simply be like animated and it references things heavily. User:Eire 16.03 Dec 15 09 (OUTC)
The TFW2005 interview states it's "not connected to any particular generation" and that this will be the foundation for newer sub-franchises. That does indicate this isn't G1 but yet another continuity. Charles RB 16:31, 23 December 2009 (GMT)
It would certainly seem to. --Jimsorenson 11:44, 23 December 2009 (EST)
Alrighty. Hopefully at some point we'll have a good parenthetical for this new continuity ... family. --ItsWalky 11:46, 23 December 2009 (EST)
How about "WFC"? User:ThiAthEhn
I agree. It has been stated in interviews that this is a new continuity and the character designs seem to be taking influence from a number of previous incarnations; mostly War Within, Transformers Animated and the live-action movies. It would be difficult to make the case that these are meant to be direct variations on the G1 characters. I second the idea of using "WFC" to classify them. Clifftothemax 10:17, 19 January 2010 (GMT)
This IS a diffrent continuity- IGN Preview "Freed from the constraints of a movie license, the new Transformers game lives within its own universe." The TWF2005 preview and interview, multiple times in Game Informer's articles and alot in the Podcast on the same site. It's just heavily inspired by G1. I didn't want to change anything because I don't want to start an edit war over this. Drayco90 17:23, 16 January 2010 (EST)
Something can still be a new universe while being part of an existing continuity family. Henkei! Henkei! was a new universe that was still G1, as was Classics and the IDW stuff. What's important to the wiki is whether this will be a new continuity family, not just strictly a new universe. New universes happen all the time. New continuity families are much more rare. --ItsWalky 10:37, 19 January 2010 (EST)
The thing is, it is (and always has been) a bit of a subjective value judgement alot of the time. How much similarity to G1 do we need to make something definately G1? Or does it work the other way? How big a New Element (minicons, cyberkeys,) do we need to make it difinitively it's own ConFam? Authorial intent definately has to be part of it too. Anything that specifically calls itself G1 is obvious, and anything that seems to be trying to pick up the original G1 characters/situations themselves even if it's in new forms or directions, alla IDW (although even that can be tricky to judge, agaiin HOW MUCH change makes a break?)... When we have as little info as we do right now on WfC it's almost impossible to judge what it will become. Do we have an editorial policy (and if not should we?) saying "Something new that seems G1-ish IS, until we see differences enough to prove it's not," or vice-versa "anything new is to be considered it's own continuity until we've seen enough to feel if it's G1-continuity family?" A set plan either way might make these situations a bit less random in the future. Maybe?--76.28.76.206 10:48, 19 January 2010 (EST)
lostcount: I would be highly surprised if WFC turns out to represent a whole new continuity family. We've already accepted too many retellings and revisions of G1 as being part of G1 for this one to fairly be split out, unless it has something that is an inescapable telltale mark of a separate confam, i.e. they're fighting for the Movie Allspark. "Its prehistory is very slightly different" will not be good enough, as is shown by the comfortable confam coexistence of FFOD, War Within, and Stormbringer. --Thylacine 2000 00:01, 21 January 2010 (EST)
And the Club Magazine's leading questions imply that this is indeed G1. Maybe even a previous G1. --ItsWalky 22:04, 25 January 2010 (EST)

By what you just showed, it'll be a part of the G1 Continuity family (I still question that its anything more than "influenced by it" I mean what constitutes a G1 Confam..yes IDW and Dreamwave are under it, but is the same true for an animated series? I mean honestly, If that were true, then Transformers Animated would be a part of the G1 Confam, and its not.) but shouldn't it have its own section near the bottom at some point, (for game, toys, series, etc.) sense apparently (and this is news to me) your link seems to state its based on its own upcoming series.--Chipmonk328 EDIT: Sorry to be posting an additional edit: but I have a distinct feeling, and am going to risk being wrong to call it now: An upcoming comic-tie in to it that basically further stretches whether it should be its own Confam or not.--Chipmonk328

The New trailer

should we make a summary of the trailer?--Defect 14:25, 12 January 2010 (EST)

The link to the trailer is probably enough. A play-by-play would be a bit excessive. --ItsWalky 14:27, 12 January 2010 (EST)
Isn't the point of our wiki to be excessive? --User:ThiAthEhn

Logos

I'm guessing the answer is no, but have the developers released any images of the characters on a white background that we can use to make some logos for the Main Page? I know we're not sure who the characters are yet, but we can link them to the WFC page for now. --abates 14:34, 13 January 2010 (EST)

No. --ItsWalky 15:13, 13 January 2010 (EST)
Of course, the current logo doesn't look too bad on the main page.--RosicrucianTalk 15:14, 13 January 2010 (EST)
I think he means the center TFwiki one with the rotating characters. If we want to cut people out of screencaps with photoshop, we could probably add some WfC ones to the rotation. --ItsWalky 15:21, 13 January 2010 (EST)
I cropped a WfC out of his concept art and inserted him into the rotation. --ItsWalky 15:59, 13 January 2010 (EST)
Awesome! --abates 16:08, 13 January 2010 (EST)
And a Megatron. --ItsWalky 16:10, 13 January 2010 (EST)

Starscream?

Who says that black and grey seeker in the "Megatron and Starscream prepare for the ground assault" picture is Starscream? It's much more likely it's Skywarp.-Roni134730 01:00, 26 January 2010 (EST)

He has blue and red, though. It's just overwhelmed by the lighting. --ItsWalky 17:30, 24 January 2010 (EST)
Plus, aside from the obvious color shadings (if you look), who are usually considered the three most popular Decepticons? Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream. It doesn't really make much sense for Skywarp to be along the line-up in Starscream's place. There IS another jet flying around the battle however. - Clifftothemax 14:38, 10 February 2010

Alright, my bad :( --Roni134730 18:54, 10 February 2010 (EST)

Toys Confirmed, mention here?

So we've had the existance of WfC toys confirmed by non-leeky sources (Game Informer, Fun pub) now my question is do they rate a mention here on this page. Generally they'd ust be mentioned on the character pages but this is pretty much the first time ever a TF Video game has gotten its own toys. Worth a Trivia entry? Or it's own sub-section? --76.28.76.206 11:52, 25 January 2010 (EST)

We do need to start mentioning it as news becomes official, but it's not true that this is the only Transformers game that's had its own toys. Several of the designs from the both live-action film games had toys made of them, and a Decepticlone from the Armada video game got made into an Attactix figure. --ItsWalky 13:30, 25 January 2010 (EST)
Can we count on you for the photos? --ThiAthEhn
What? --ItsWalky 11:15, 27 January 2010 (EST)

We have official stock photos for two toys now, that aren't from the club. Not sure where we want to put them.--RosicrucianTalk 02:00, 27 January 2010 (EST)

It would help if we knew the name of the toyline they were being featured in. For now, put them on this page, I think, just because we're building this article as an attraction. --ItsWalky 02:03, 27 January 2010 (EST)
Done. --RosicrucianTalk 02:08, 27 January 2010 (EST)
Is it just me or do those look like movie-ized versions of the Animated designs? Khajidha 10:39, 27 January 2010 (EST)
I'd say more "Classics-ized" versions of the Animated designs myself. Regardless yes it's pretty clear that the Animated, Movie, and Classics aesthetics all influenced their development, which makes sense, those being the last three main TF lines.--76.28.76.206 10:43, 27 January 2010 (EST)

Fresh trailer guys

http://kotaku.com/5480780/first-look-at-transformers-war-for-cybertron-gameplay-footage

Nothing spectacularly surprising, but looks quite awesome.

ThiAthEhn

Yeah, uh, that's already in the article. --ItsWalky 10:46, 26 February 2010 (EST)

Seriously? This one has actual gameplay, something I haven't seen in the other ones... ThiAthEhn

Third link in "external links" at the bottom, dude. --ItsWalky 08:08, 27 February 2010 (EST)

Character Sources?

I think it may be wise to put up the sources for each new character, or at least an image of them. Not all of us have the good fortune of reading Kotaku to know Grimlock is actually in the game. Just a suggestion, however. In a few months it won't matter anyway.Drayco90 20:39, 28 February 2010 (EST)

For many characters, this isn't possible. For example, we know about the two Aerialbots from Toy Fair 2010, to which we we can't link because recording anything was forbidden. And an image of Grimlock is down in the gallery, so. --ItsWalky 21:29, 28 February 2010 (EST)

Release date

Gamestop seems to think this game is coming out on June 22, not July 22 as this article states. They even guarantee its delivery on that date if you preorder! --ItsWalky 15:46, 2 March 2010 (EST)

Motormaster

Here is a picture that maybe shows Motormaster in the Nintendo DS Version: http://cache-10.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/02/500x_5231_02_0098_20100119-cli1.jpg

Also, on the tfw2005 board it has been statet that motormaster will be in the game. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/293592-war-cybertron-kotaku-articles-ds-version-5.html

I can take Marcelo Matere's word on it. --ItsWalky 10:01, 6 March 2010 (EST)

Interview and more gameplay and footage

http://kotaku.com/5493784/building-the-ultimate-transformers-origin-story

Always possible that you've already seen it, but here it is, feel free to add.

-Aaron Archer

-It apparantly IS G1, not seperate.

-Scorponok (?) (!) boss battle?

-And much more...

ThiAthEhn

No PSP option...

Has there been any word, in an interview or announcement, as to why no PSP version of the game has been announced (and may not be, for that matter)? --Nerroth 00:28, 21 March 2010 (EDT)

[edit] It does seem like a seperate continuity

I think its a "revised" backstory on g1 before they crashed into Mt. St. Helens 4,000,000 years ago. LADIES MAN TOO-ONE-SEVEN 15:55, 21 March 2010 (EDT)

Voice actor thing

I find it hard to believe that if a site was playing April Fools on people, they wouldn't own up to the fact to tell people they got sucked in bad. Also, they posted it before April Fools and have subsequently removed all traces of the offending "false" information from the article. Anybody remember the kerfuffle over the 2008 reveal of The Fallen's role in ROTF? Same thing happened - articles swiftly edited to remove information the Bay deemed unfit for publication at the time. --FFN 14:43, 1 April 2010 (EDT)

The Activision folks also sent e-mails to Seibertron and TFormers, and Lonegamer says she actually spoke to an Activision rep on the phone on the Allspark's behalf.
So... if it is a coverup, it's at least one that spreads beyond that one site. --Jeysie 15:04, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
Also, the ROTF 2008 cover up - we documented that information on the wiki for posterity. I take it we're not going to do the same for this event? --FFN 10:08, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
That felt like a cover-up. See, that was about denying that a movie called REVENGE OF THE FALLEN was about a character called THE FALLEN. This doesn't feel like a cover-up to me. It feels like some video game site got their information off Wikipedia again. --ItsWalky 10:24, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
Except that it's a rather large, detailed, substantial article that started with "AusGamers was recently invited out to High Moon Studios in San Diego" and "Some familiar voices were being thrown about the demo [insert voice actor information]". Unless the entire article is based on falsehoods and assumptions, they went up to High Moon Studios. They saw the game in action. They talked to the people who made it. Not "We made this shit up by piecing it together from things we heard online, especially Wikipedia." --FFN 07:25, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
The whole article reeked of Did Not Do The Research. Cullen's name was misspelled, they referred to Chris Latta's real name and stage name as separate people... So yeah, I'm going to go with "idiots" over "cover-up". --Detour 07:26, 10 April 2010 (EDT)

New Characters' pages?

VM: Would I ask why nearly all characters except Demolishor are linked to their G1 incarnation? Why not make a new one WfC?

We're not exactly sure how WFC/Prime is going to play out continuity family-wise. Until then, it's safest to link to their G1 versions. --ItsWalky 16:00, 8 April 2010 (EDT)
VM: I see, but I think personally they should have their own, but its only my opinion :)

Jazz?

The scout in the multiplayer traier looks alot like Jazz and when you hover over the pre-order button on thier website I am pretty sure its Jazz next to Shockwave

Image Captions/Quotes

So for the 1986 Transformer movie, there were a bunch of quotes from Star Wars: A New Hope. Then for the 2007 movie, there were quotes from the 1986 movie. And for RotF, we did quotes from The Empire Strikes Back. I'm wondering if we should do quotes from the Halo series for the image captions for War for Cybertron. What do you think?

And in a somewhat related manner, I might have found what could possibly be the boxart for WfC. If we use it, I have a proposed quote.

Men, keep your eyes downrange, fingers on the trigger, and we all come home in one piece. Am I right, Marines?
