The Autobots begin to suspect that a human organization is working against them, while Soundwave continues to investigate the resurrection of Ravage.

Synopsis

Galloway is prepared to shut down N.E.S.T after the battle at Kingdom Petrochemicals, but Major Lennox is not going down without a fight. Galloway explains that all Cybertronians must have the proper paperwork to be active on Earth, which Jolt and Knock Out apparently don't have. The Decepticon threat level has been downgraded to blue, which means N.E.S.T. will no longer be needed, but Lennox tries to explain how Bumblebee, Jolt, and Knock Out just fought a bunch of Decepticons at Kingdom Petrochemicals, but Galloway won't hear it. After Galloway and his boys leave, Optimus Prime and Lennox discuss the possibilities of a possible third organization involved in their situation in some way.

Meanwhile, a team of investigators is inspecting the sight at Kingdom Petrochemicals, and while searching through the ground, they discover a sub-level, and send down a team to investigate. When the humans go down there, Ravage comes charging out of the hole, and Soundwave orders him to to find a safe place to hide until he arrives, while he sends Buzzsaw to rendezvous with a strike team in Wendover, Utah.

While these events unfold, the people at Initiative are testing their newly reconstructed Allspark, but some of its members are worried about what could happen if things go wrong, while others tell them to shut up, and that everything'll be fine. Meanwhile, three Decepticons proceed to absolutely OBLITERATE a farm in Utah, looking for something to do with Ravage. They spy a sub-level in the farm, but they see a flashing red light, and Soundwave tells them to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!

This has attracted both Initiative forces, and N.E.S.T forces, with only N.E.S.T responding. Lennox tells them to deploy Ironhide's team, as they are the closest to the Utah location, and when they get to the Utah area, they proceed to try and defeat the Decepticons. The Autobots fare pretty well against the Decepticons, killing two of them and causing Dirt Boss to surrender, but that is when Soundwave comes in and attacks. He unleashes Ravage to attack Ironhide, but he is quickly dispatched of. Just as Soundwave is about to use his saw on Ironhide, Optimus Prime comes parachutting down from the sky, and quickly defeats him. Soundwave then tries to convince the Autobots not to cyro-freeze him, as he is a valuable asset to them if they need to investigate who's working against them. Optimus Prime says that they will arrange for Soundwave's arrest, but they won't freeze him, but in return, he has to tell them everything he knows.

Just then, the Initiative discovers that the Hoover Dam is gone off the radar...

Items of note

  • Galloway seems to think Knock Out is a recent Autobot reinforcement. He may be more out of the loop than he thought because Knock Out has been around since before the Shanghai incident.[1] In reality, it is possible Simon Furman was not aware of Knockout's appearance in The Veiled Threat.
  • Dune Runner appears in a flashback to the previous issue's events, but nobody bothers mentioning him or his contribution. And he's still drawn as the Landmine / Armorhide design.
