Ratchet still has his wound after Thrill of The Nut. You see it when he's treating Prime, in Nanosec and in Sound And Fury

"Is Ratchet (Animated) the same as Ratchet (G1)?" Discussion

Just to give this discussion someplace to live . . .

Given that A) Ratchet fought in the last Great War, millions of years ago, and B) the last Great War is depicted using G1 footage, a tempting fanon conclusion might be that Animated is in fact a sequel to G1, set millions of years later, and that most of the characters are new characters with the same name (like Megatron (G1) and Megatron(BW)), except for Ratchet (Animated), who is in fact the same character as Ratchet (G1).

Except that G1 was set in 1984, and Animated is not set in 1984-plus-millions-of-years. It's set around 2008. Ergo, while the last Great War that Ratchet fought in might have strongly resembled G1 in many ways, it couldn't have involved 1984 Earth, and so is radically different from G1 in that respect, at least. All the G1 footage was specifically from flashback episodes millions of years ago (MTMTE and War Dawn). So while one could argue that G1 and Animated share an ancient past, they do not share a "modern" (1980s) history. --Thylacine 2000 17:09, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Just curious: Why does Ratchet have a paunch after the Great War? Does it keep more tools, is it a change of vehicular mode, or is it a lack of maintenance on his part? And the stubbly chin? --akindofdrifter

Similarity to G1 Ironhide

I would just stick this in the page, but I'm too new. Anyway, this version of Ratchet seems to have absorbed some characteristics of Ironhide (G1) - specifically, his manner of speaking, old-timerness, and occasional grouchiness. Since the G1 versions of Ratchet and Ironhide were both redecos of the same Diaclone toy, I'd say this is an interesting bit of trivia.Fortress Minimus 19:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Wrist joints

So... say fellas.. where are his wrist joints? Is he wearing welding gloves or something? Are his arms made of the same flexible material most cybertronians have only on their faces?

Scrap that. On closer inspection, a lot of the Animated characters have no joints in areas where they're articulated. Jazz's thighs, Sentinel Prime's ankles... and everyone's fingers.. *facepalm* so.. nevermind.

Ratchet vs. Red Alert

I'm confused by the notes on the replacement on both pages. Red Alert's states she was replaced to make room for a more recognizable (because in movie) character. Ratchet's states that Red Alert first became male, then was renamed Ratchet... and then the note goes on as if Ratchet just directly replaced Red Alert ("However"). The progression as described on Ratchet's page is correct. Originally, there was going to be a female character named Red Alert in the Animated lineup. The female Red Alert then became male later in development. Sam Register then convinced Hasbro to let the male Red Alert take the name Ratchet. Cybertronian Ratchet nonsense.

The article states that the EMP does not stay on well for Cybertronian Ratchet. However, having him, Lockdown and regular Ratchet in front of me right now, it stays on his arm perfectly.In fact, it's mind-numbingly tight to the point where i can hold him by the EMP and shake him violently without it even moving a millimeter.--86.87.28.191 15:26, 13 June 2010 (EDT)

Looking over some forums, half of the people seem to have a very loose one, while the other half of the samples has an extremely tight fit. This is worth mentioning.
