Plasma cannons are weapons which fire bursts of plasma at opponents.

Fiction

Generation 1

Quake's primary weapon in tank mode is his turret-mounted plasma cannon with a range of 40 miles. His allies would be more impressed with it, if he wasn't just as likely to blow them up as a platoon of Autobots. Longtooth's inner robot is armed with a hand-held plasma cannon.

Beast Wars

The Axalon was equipped with a plasma cannon. When it became apparent that the ship was falling into an unnamed planet's atmosphere, Optimus Primal ordered that the plasma cannon be fired on the fleeing Darksyde. The blast successfully crippled the Predacon vessel. Beast Wars (Part 1)

Movie continuity

Plasma cannons are employed by both the Autobots and the Decepticons. Ghosts of Yesterday

Upon arriving on Earth, Starscream used his plasma cannon to destroy an F-22 Raptor that he had just scanned. Movie Prequel issue 4

Bumblebee's primary weapon was a plasma cannon, which he used to great effect against Brawl...as well as intimidating his former Sector Seven oppressors. Transformers

War for Cybertron

The Plasma Cannon releases bolts that can be charged by holding down the fire button. Bolts charge up to three levels of power, but don't plan on running around with a fully-charged cannon unless you want to start taking damage. The Plasma Cannon is best for big, slow-moving targets (like a hovering Soldier or Trypticon).

Merchandise

Transformers (2007)

  • Bumblebee AllSpark Blaster (2008)
The Bumblebee AllSpark Blaster is one of several Movie Roleplay toys. The toy consists of a a blaster attached to Bumblebee's (hollow) hand which a child can slip their own hand inside like a glove and wield. Pulling the trigger causes the toy to emit transformation sounds, allowing the user to transform the toy weapon from laser blaster mode to plasma cannon mode, by pulling the handle on the back. Laser blaster mode features laser pulse sounds and a "laser flare beam" (lights), while the plasma cannon mode has "plasma pulse lights" and explosion sounds.

Revenge of the Fallen

  • Bumblebee Plasma Cannon (2009)
The Plasma Cannon is a stylized version of Bumblebee's fist that converts to a plasma cannon roleplay toy when the barrel is slid forward or the trigger is pulled. When fired, a ring of red lights around the barrel flashes (totally awesome). If the trigger is only pulled half-way, a "charging" sound is made. There is also an Autobot sigil on the side that, when pressed, causes sound effects to be heard. These include conversion noises, a revving engine, and clips from Stan Bush's "The Touch" (also awesome, but only in the "Try Me" setting, which is not quite as awesome).
