Disambiguation

Uh, the 2007 line was also just "Transformers". And so was the latter end of the original toyline. —Interrobang 19:25, 15 February 2010 (EST)

Yeah, if we're following this line of naming, this has to go at Transformers (2010 toyline), akin to Universe (2008 toyline). --ItsWalky 19:36, 15 February 2010 (EST)

Separate movie and non-movie figures?

Shoudl we separate the Movie and non-Movie figures apart so as to not confuse which characters are and aren't Movie ones? Like, perhaps put all those under the "Hunt for the Decepticons" subline in one list, and those that aren't in a second list. Or, if that's too much trouble, then perhaps we could somehow label those that are Movie/HftD figures to identify them? --Sabrblade 19:15, 7 March 2010 (EST)

At the moment, I think all of them are under the HftD subline so far, but that'll likely change when that promotion is over. And, man, IF we could separate these guys by continuity, that'd actually be really great, and I wouldn't be pulling my friggin' hair out. But we really don't know, besides the Obviously Movie Guys Because They're In The Movie. --ItsWalky 19:17, 7 March 2010 (EST)
Heh, got it. Hasbro sure loves "toying" with us, don't they. --Sabrblade 19:22, 7 March 2010 (EST)
There ARE guys with Movie-style symbols and guys with normal-style symbols, but just like in previous lines, the factory isn't always really great with giving toys the desired one 100% of the time. So that's... really gray. --ItsWalky 19:26, 7 March 2010 (EST)

Really, REALLY confused...

How is a toyline that is "a general celebration of Transformers" (ie THIS one) different from one that "aims to recreate older Transformers characters as new toys and celebrate the history of the brand" (Generations)? Is there ANY possibility that this is another case of Speed Stars/Action Fleet type confusion? Are we talking about the same toyline with two different names here? Khajidha 10:36, 10 March 2010 (EST) (on a borrowed computer, forgot to log in)

I presume this is like Transformers Universe 3.0, except now Movieverse Transformers will be part of the lineup (if you're confused now, Khajidha, wait until next year when the next movie comes out. Hoo, boy). - Zadok Rox 14:24, 10 March 2010 (EST)
Just calling it the way Hasbro did at Toy Fair 2010. We took notes. Well, Sipher took notes. But I copied them. --ItsWalky 14:58, 10 March 2010 (EST)
The other part of that is the Generations line is Deluxe class only- any "classic" Voyagers or Ultras will probably show up in this line, whereas in 2008 they would have been part of Universe. --129.116.80.237 10:40, 26 April 2010 (EST)

This Fall?

Does this line starts this fall?, --Eagc7 18 March 2010

Tracker Hound

Isn't "Tracker Hound" just "Hound" with a random adjective added, like "Fireburst Optimus Prime" and "Cyberfire Bumblebee"? - Starfield 10:57, 5 May 2010 (EDT)

OK, thinking about it some more, I'd say "Tracker Hound" is obviously "Hound" with a random adjective added. And since Hasbro only adds random adjectives to the names of established characters, this Hound must be an established character. Which established character? There is only one real choice in this case, the Hound he is redecoed from (which is usually when Hasbro adds a random adjective) so I'm gonna say he is Hound (G1). Any objections? - Starfield 11:33, 5 May 2010 (EDT)
Your logic seems flawless.--Jimsorenson 11:38, 5 May 2010 (EDT)

First Real Edit

Hi. I noticed this page was missing the figures revealed here. [1] So I added them. This is my first time trying to add to a page so telll me if i did it right ok?--Fredbob 17:29, 15 May 2010 (EDT)

You're technique seems to be sound, but I don't know if a supposed Walmart listing (for which there is no link to despite the fact the list is posted on TFW2005.com's website) is solid evidence enough to warrant posting on this wiki. If you, Fredbob, suggested that Grapple could be a retool of Universe (2008) Inferno, you may want to refrain from such speculation and post them in the Community section (note the Navigation list on the top left of this page). - Zadok Rox 19:55, 15 May 2010 (EDT)

If it should to be deleated thats fine--Fredbob 20:19, 15 May 2010 (EDT)

Hasbro's Masterpiece Grimlock

In package images of Hasbro's Masterpiece Grimlock show it to in packaging under the simple "Transformers" name (like all the other products in this toyline). But, the deep red color scheme of the packaging matches that of the Generations line instead of the yellow in this line. To further complicate things, the cross-sell advertises the Leader Class Optimus Prime figure (the one with hooks and the Buster OP mouthplate-less head), which is in this toyline. So, which toyline would this figure belong in? The brand and cross-sell suggest this toyline, but the color scheme and history with Starscream and Skywarp suggest the Generations line. --Sabrblade 14:18, 31 May 2010 (EDT)

Power Core Combiners?

So, if the PCC toys are a subline within the franchise, per the description on their page...shouldn't they be included somewhere in the list here? I'm in the middle of something right now, so I can't do more than make a note of it, but I can try compiling the names and links into a subsection later today.--Apcog 10:14, 10 June 2010 (EDT)

Hasbro seemed to indicate at Toy Fair that Power Core Combiners are their own franchise. --ItsWalky 11:45, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
Well, Hasbro's specifically vague words are even more weird as of late. Interpreting what the hell they're saying in regards to what-fits-where is getting trickier and trickier. Honestly, I'm inclined to treat PCC as a 2010 subline. --M Sipher 11:49, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
Own franchise or own toyline? It's getting to the point that you need to have a definition of terms session with Hasbro before you can communicate with them. --Khajidha 12:16, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
Fictionally they seem to be in-continuity with other characters from the 2010 franchise in the post-ROTF live-action continuity. - Starfield 12:59, 10 June 2010 (EDT)

Axor

Has it been comfirmed that he is a Repaint/Remold of Lockdown (ROTF) yet?--Fredbob 18:59, 13 June 2010 (EDT)

Well he's shown up in Hasbro's online game and his altform there is clearly a white lockdown. So that seems to be a big though implied yes. --ZacWilliam 20:36, 13 June 2010 (EDT)

Should that be added to the articl then?--Fredbob 21:06, 14 June 2010 (EDT) I assume yes as well as these new pics[2] mean its fine to add.--Fredbob 23:49, 16 June 2010 (EDT)

Character information

How has this site gotten info on the new characters? It says here that the toys haven't been released yet, so are the bios available online or something? Item42 07:10, 26 June 2010 (EDT)

They might be. If anything, BotCon 2010 might be displaying the new toys with their packaging (which should have their bio on the back). - Zadok Rox 07:45, 26 June 2010 (EDT)

Random anon people and new members removing coming soon tags

So, have these toys been given a wide release in North America yet? Because it's mostly anons and new members who don't know the rules who tend to remove these coming soon toy tags. --FFN 09:18, 26 June 2010 (EDT)

I haven't seen any this week. My Target store had some slim picking of the ROTF line. Meanwhile, two of the local Walmart stores had a good number of ROTF toys left (sales seems to be very slow for the Deluxe and larger classes at one of them). - Zadok Rox 12:16, 26 June 2010 (EDT)
Haven't seen them in my neck of the woods either. Course, we seem to be a little behind anyways. I still haven't seen Mindwipe, and we have 3 WalMarts, a KMart, a Target and a TRU. --Khajidha 12:24, 26 June 2010 (EDT)
I just checked Toys 'R' Us' website and they have Wave One of the Scout and Deluxe classes in stock (didn't go through the whole listing; got to get ready for work). - Zadok Rox 12:47, 26 June 2010 (EDT)

"Archer's clarification"?

Please elaborate. - Jackpot 15:04, 29 June 2010 (EDT)

He implied that the TF2010 franchise is generic Transformer stuff that is packaged and sold to retailers as being live-action movie stuff. Generations is a Classics-sorta line that helps grant Transformers additional shelf space by being a separate line. That's the difference between the two lines, since it was kinda fuzzy before. I don't really think it changes much. We're certainly not gonna move anybody in the TF2010 line to the "(Movie)" disambiguation, because "(TF 2010)" is still the franchise of origin. --ItsWalky 15:12, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
I asked him why there was both a Generations package style and a 2010 goldbox style if they were both supposed to have the same internal conceit: representing characters from all throughout the history of the franchise, not bound by any singular storyline. He said it was to make retailers happy, because they were more interested in giving shelfspace to a toy from the blockbuster movies than one from, quote, "a comic book from 20 years ago". He said that as far as he was concerned, some of the offscreen movie / goldbox toys were really "supposed to be" Generations, particularly Bludgeon, but, again, retailer considerations are a big deal. --Thylacine 2000 15:15, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
Cool, thank you. I'm actually in favor of pushing the 2010 stuff as far into the Movieverse as we can, but I don't know if the pebbles we've collected so far have added up to the necessary avalanche yet. We've got the aesthetics, the reference to RoTF Devastator in PCC, and now the behind-the-scenes marketing... am I missing anything? - Jackpot 15:21, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
So basically, any 2010 characters are from the Movie-verse unless specifically stated otherwise? --Khajidha 16:39, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
Depends. Is "Stated otherwise" via author intent or by what's presented in fiction or the bios? For example, Bludgeon was stated to be a Universe toy by intent, but he shows up in Cyber Missions to fight Movie Ironhide, placing him squarely in the live-action universe. The same for Sea Spray, but his nemesis according to his packaging is another movie-verse dude. --ItsWalky 16:47, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
I was going by fiction. Also, did anyone think to ask about how PCC fits into all this? Is it a completely separate franchise (like when Animated and Movie were being sold at the same time), a separate toy line in the same continuity as 2010 (like Activators or Fast Action Battlers) or a subline within the 2010 line with a unified packaging call out (like Powerlinx Battles during Energon)? --Khajidha 17:01, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
I don't know about BotCon, but within the PCC fiction, Devastator is used as an example of the gestalt process, which eliminates the individuality of the components and produces a monster. That's a pretty clear reference to the RoTF Dev, but beyond that there's no other evidence that I know of. - Jackpot 17:08, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
Hm. I wonder how many 2010 characters we could tie to the movieverse, especially given the little chains of association formed by the this-guy-totally-hates-that-guy relationships in their bios. And then I wonder how many of these characters can be established as NOT-movieverse. The only one I can think of is Masterpiece Grimlock, by dint of being seriously so goddamn G1 it hurts. - Jackpot 17:08, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
Do we have any indication that Crankstart is a movie guy? Maybe he exists in multiple universes, just like Seaspray. Chip 23:38, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
Where do the G1 Legends you saw at BotCon fit? They're obviously G1 characters, but Generations doesn't have a Legends assortment. Do we wait for bios and presume (in the meantime) that Legends Sandstorm, Tracker Hound, Scout Windcharger and Voyager Grapple are "TF2010" characters instead of G1? --FFN 23:04, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
The poor Legends guys won't get bios and probably won't appear in fiction. But if you take the "Legends" moniker seriously, they are probably intended to be legendary characters, not nobodies. Plus "Tracker" modifies "Hound". So "Tracker Hound" is a modification of "Hound". "Tracker Hound" is "Hound" modified. G1!
I'm trying here. Give me points for creativity. - Starfield 23:24, 29 June 2010 (EDT)

Gold-box conjecture

Does the color of the packaging have any significance? As far as I understand, some of the un-subtitled 2010 boxes are gold, some are red, and all of the Generations ones are red. Some people seem to want to call all of the red-boxed toys "Generations", but is there any reason to? For instance, these guys are really obviously movieverse. - Jackpot 18:33, 29 June 2010 (EDT)

Obviously Hasbro wants to drive us insane. --FFN 23:01, 29 June 2010 (EDT)
