"Ax" redirects here. For the melee weapon, see axe.
Ax is an Andalite from the Animorphs continuity.

Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill (or Ax to his friends) is an Animorph; a group of young guerrilla fighters defending the Earth from the invading Yeerk empire. Unlike his fellow warriors, however, he is not a native of this planet: Ax is an Andalite, a member of an advanced alien race, who has come to aid the humans in their plight. Ax's older brother was Prince Elfangor, who sacrificed himself giving the Animorphs their morphing powers, in order to provide them with a sliver of hope against their encroaching enemies. Aiding those who have been entrusted with his brother's final gift, Ax considers himself the Animorphs' greatest alien ally. Though he is somewhat homesick, there are many things about the Earth that he has come to love. He has the fullest of intentions to repel the Yeerk invasion, with the use of his razor-sharp tail and his ability to disguise himself as a human. Other known morphs in his possession are those of a scorpion and a panther.

Animorphs

One of five scorpion molds not named Scorponok.
  • Ax/Scorpion (Mega, 1999)
    • Accessories: Missile
Ax transforms from an Andalite (sort of an alien centaur-thing) into a scorpion. In scorpion mode his tail fires missiles. Unlike the human Animorph toys, it has no transitional third mode.

  • Ax/Panther (Deluxe, 1999)
    • Accessories: Left paw, right paw
Ax's second retail toy is a retooling of Jake/Tiger, transforming from a funny-looking human into a panther, as well as a transitional third mode combining features from both. His panther mode front claws are separate pieces that attach like gloves. Although this toy has no alien mode, the transitional mode's head has features that suggest an Andalite-to-panther transition rather than a human-to-panther transition.

Notes

PLEASE KILL ME NOW. D:
  • Ax/Panther is the only toy in the Animorphs toy line that is not a new mold.
  • Ax/Panther does not make sense within the context of the Animorphs series itself; morphing to any creature must be done when in one's original form, so he would have to go from human back to Andalite before he could become a panther. The Andalite-like features in his transition mode may have been intended to compensate for this.
  • The packaging art for Ax's scorpion mold is a hilariously toy-accurate depiction of the figure's beast mode, resembling more of a mish-mash of Andalite parts then an actual scorpion... or anything else for that matter.
