The Dark Energon corrupted Hot Shot and he went on a frenzy of violent destruction until he was defeated by the Autobots and returned back to normal.

Hot Shot is an unlockable character for the Nintendo DS version of War for Cybertron. He can be unlocked by beating Dam 6 in Arena Mode.

According to Aaron Archer at the BotCon 2010 Activision panel, the character was named Hot Shot in the Transformers: War for Cybertron Nintendo DS game due to "Hot Rod" being an unprotectable name. That does little to explain why they didn't go with Rodimus like Exodus and all preceding pieces of Transformers fiction and merchandise did.
