This article is about the heroic Decepticon Targetmaster. For his evil counterpart, see Nightstick (Cyclonus).
This article is about the Targetmaster partner to "Shattered Glass" Cyclonus. For the art error that was supposed to be Cyclonus, see Krunix (G1).
Krunix is a heroic Decepticon Targetmaster from the "Shattered Glass" continuity family.
"Well, great, now I'm an accomplice."

Krunix is a result of the Decepticons' attempt to replicate the Targetmaster process originally developed by the Autobots. He's a morally upright Micromaster who has strong doubts about his partner Cyclonus's belief that Alpha Trion will be the savior of Cybertron—doubts which sometimes hamper his ability to amplify Cyclonus's oxygen inhibitor beam.

Timelines

Holy crap, it's a Krunix toy!
  • Shattered Glass Cyclonus (Deluxe Class, 2010)
Krunix is a redeco of Universe Nightstick, transforming into an "oxygen inhibitor cannon" that can be held in Cyclonus's right hand, mounted on his vehicle mode back, or —in an undocumented feature— plugged into the "wrist socket" created by leaving Cyclonus' fists in their vehicle-mode position. This undocumented combination emulates the "plug into the wrist" method of Targetmaster combination seen in the Japanese Headmasters cartoon. His gun handle can also act as a Powerlinx port for a Mini-Con.
Available only with Timelines Cyclonus, the pairing are collectively the second Transformers Collectors' Club exclusive for 2010.
The mold was also used to make Rocketbot.

Notes

  • The only piece of fiction to feature Krunix has him (in weapon mode) colored as the original Nightstick toy, with a black main barrel/body and silver legs, perhaps as a way to have him homage both Nightstick and the original Krunix in one instance. The toy's parts, however, are gang-molded with the very red and orange Cyclonus, making his comic colors something of a retroactive error. D'oh!
  • Krunix is only mentioned by name in Cyclonus's Transformers Collectors' Club magazine profile.
  • Though Cyclonus's Club magazine profile states Krunix is a Micromaster, Pete Sinclair initially said in the announcement for the exclusive that Krunix was also a Nebulan, and that this would be explained. However, the change was eventually pulled, with Sinclair explaining on the Transformers Collectors' Club forums that the change would have been too tricky to plot around Cyclonus's profile info after all.
  • Bless you, Fun Publications, for a clever way of not giving us yet another Nightstick to keep track of.
