Krunix (G1)

This article is about the evil art error Decepticon. For the heroic mirror universe Decepticon, see Krunix (SG){{#switch:{{#sub:Krunix (SG)|-1}} != .= ?= .

Krunix is a Decepticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
He's kinda the Marvel Comic equivalent of Cyclonus's Armada.

Krunix exists. He asks his fellow Decepticons to save some for him. Some... anything.

Sometimes he is the Headmaster partner of Scourge, also working alongside the Targetmaster Fracas.

Fiction

Marvel The Transformers comics

[edit]
Krunix appeared exclusively in the UK portion of the Marvel Comics continuity.

Krunix took part in the Decepticons raid on Fortress Maximus's base in the Manganese Mountains. He was concerned the transmission from Zarak could be a booby-trap before discovering it was an alien language.

Krunix was among the Decepticons that traveled to Nebulos, and was part of Scorponok's handpicked team that laid siege to Koraja. Broken Glass!

Beast Wars: Uprising

[edit]

Presumably a Cyberdroid from Master, Krunix became Scourge's Headmaster partner during the latter days of the Great War. They shared an alliance with Fracas, Scourge's Targetmaster partner from Nebulos. After the Grendel Gambit failed, Scourge and Galvatron were sentenced to death in the name of Pax Cybertronia, their Cybertronian binary bond partners to serve out indefinite prison sentences. A Brush With Infamy–Prologue Society moved on, however, and while Galvatron would live in infamy forever, his cohorts fell into obscurity. Eventually a regime change led to Krunix and the others being released from custody. Not All Megatrons

Krunix never got over Scourge and Fracas's demise. He owned and operated a bar called Scourge of Athenia after the war, drowning his sorrows and occasionally acting as an intermediary for various criminal dealings. Identity Politics

Surprisingly, Galvatron one day returned. He recruited Krunix and his own former partners, Doomshot and Nucleon, back into the fold. Not All Megatrons Interested in the tales of a new Megatron on Cybertron, Galvatron brought his flunkies to Iacon to observe him. When the Vehicon Apocalypse struck, Galvatron's own G-Virus made him invisible to the Vehicons, prompting Krunix and the others to stick close to their boss to stay inside his "aura of protection". When Galvatron observed Megatron's success at hacking into the Vehicon network, malicious new evils came to mind, and he directed his minions to salvage a few Vehicons for himself. Derailment

Galvatron brought Krunix and the others to a laboratory in the Rad Zone. He retrofitted three Vehicons into new command-and-control units ("Generals", essentially) that would allow him to control his own army. With that, Galvatron no longer needed his old associates, and cruelly dispatched Krunix, Doomshot, and Nucleon. Whether that had anything to do with the three sparks he procured to bring life to his Vehicon Generals...is a tale for another time. The Inexorable March

Titans Return

[edit]
  • Fracas & Scourge (Deluxe Class, 2016)
Titans Return Fracas was repurposed as the Beast Wars: Uprising version of Krunix.
Packaged with Titans Return Scourge, Fracas is a Titan Master, and can transform into a head compatible with Scourge or any other Deluxe-or-larger Titans Return figure. Fracas's robot mode is based on the original Nightstick toy (see below).
Fracas features ball-joints in the neck and shoulders, with swivels in the hip and knees. This gives a deceptive amount of articulation and posability for a toy its size. The knees are double jointed, allowing them to bend backwards for a seated on kneeling position in addition to forming his head mode. The ball-jointed neck also allows for Scourge to move his head.
In addition to forming his head, Fracas can also sit in Scourge's vehicle mode cockpit and in his double-barrelled gun. He also features peg holes in his feet which allow him to attach to a wide variety of Titans Return figures.
Fracas's mold was used in Japan to make the small Headmaster stage of Legends Scourge as well as Sweeps.

Notes

[edit]
(cyclonus)
  • In Headmasters #2, Cyclonus is supposed to appear in a couple of scenes. However, artist Frank Springer accidentally drew a giant-sized version of Nightstick instead, probably based on the identification on the model sheet on the right, which was then colored like Cyclonus. (The giant Nightstick is actually a giant Fracas, since the two Nebulans' character models got swapped... oy!) For the UK printing of the story, since audiences were already very familiar with Cyclonus from exclusive stories in that comic, the giant Nightstick was renamed "Krunix".
  • In the Titan Transformers: Trial By Fire reprint, "Krunix" went back to being "Cyclonus", despite the reprint being a UK publication.
