Eat your heart out, Eleanor.

Females are often underestimated by society, but never Lou Hoover. Between her expertise in metallurgy, her calm composure, and the fact that she's always armed to the teeth with pistols and revolvers, there are few better people to have your back in a fight. Even when faced with giant metal robots, she won't back down.

She's married to some spineless loser named Herbert.

While in China with her husband during the Boxer Rebellion, Lou met Walter Simmons I and Joseph Wells and became entranced by their organization. Replacing their fallen metallurgist, she and her husband joined them on their adventures in America.

An excursion to the bottom of the Colorado River Basin where the Cube had been located resulted in an unexpected battle. Not only had a previously-encountered robot returned, but the Cube somehow brought the machines around them to life, including an automobile and a few of their handguns. Herbert tried to pull his wife to safety, but she reminded him that she was plenty capable of taking care of herself. When they realized that the robots weren't waterproof, Herbert opened the basin's floodgates, while Lou ordered everyone to get themselves to high ground and covered their retreat. Just as the rushing water threatened to sweep Herbert away, Lou pulled her husband from the flood.

Lou is totally badass. Sector 7 #2

Notes

  • According to John Barber, she "probably didn't walk around packing pistols" but everything else in her backstory really did happen. (Except the stuff with Sector Seven, as far as we know)
