The name Prime can refer to a Matrixload of different things.

Transformer component

• Prime is a little-used term for Generation 1 Optimus Prime's cart-sized drone usually known as Roller.
• Prime Force, a team of drones used by Energon Optimus Prime.

Rank

The rank Prime, held by many characters, generally bearers of the Matrix of Leadership.

Matrix bearers

• Optimus Prime, a name that has been applied to many different characters who have a tendency to carry the Matrix of Leadership.

• Rodimus Prime, the form taken by Hot Rod when he gets the Matrix in most of the Generation 1 continuities.

• Prime Nova, a past Matrix bearer first mentioned in the Generation 1 Marvel comics.

• Nova Prime, his more grammatically correct counterpart who abandoned the Matrix for the Darkness in the IDW comic continuity.

• Sentinel Prime, another past Matrix-bearer established by more or less every publisher of Generation 1 comics.

• Vector Prime, guardian of time and space, one of the thirteen original Transformers, and incidentally, apparently another Matrix-bearer.

• Guardian Prime, one more past Matrix-bearer, also foisted upon us by the Dreamwave Generation 1 comics.

• Omega Prime, the combined form of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, who has the Matrix, and Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus, who wants the Matrix.

• Zeta Prime, the ill-fated interim Prime left to glue the Autobots back together after the Decepticons' rise in IDW continuity.

• The Dynasty of Primes, the group of ancient Cybertronians who hid their Matrix and restored it in Revenge of the Fallen.

• Sentinel Prime, a member of the Dynasty who lead an expedition which took fourteen galactic convergences to get an echo of something.
• "Optimus Prime's ancestor", the Prime who created the Tomb of the Primes.
• Bendy-Bus Prime, apparently somehow part of the Dynasty.

• Leo Prime, a high-ranking Maximal with an Energon Matrix, which is not the Matrix.

• Primal Prime, the Vok-created Living Matrix and leader of the Wreckers.

• Nemesis Prime, a name that has been applied to several different characters, one of which carries the Dead Matrix.

• Nexus Prime, one of the 13 and the guardian of Rarified Energon.

• Modus Prime, the first of the Mini-Cons and their leader in the Classics portion of the Generation 1 series.

• Sentinel Prime, the Autobot Elite Guard member and general pain-in-the-skidplate from Animated.

• Longarm Prime, the Autobot intelligence officer disguise of Shockwave from Animated.

• Big Bang Prime an Autobot bound to Beta Supreme from Animated.

• Override Prime an Autobot bound to Kappa Supreme from Animated.

• Prime is also the Japanese name for Armada Sparkplug, who hung on to the Matrix after Armada Optimus Prime died.

• A Prime Problem, in which nobody thought to check which Optimus Prime had the Matrix.

• Prime Target, in which a hunter was targeting Optimus Prime, who has the Matrix.

• The Return of Optimus Prime, in part 2 of which Optimus Prime fights Rodimus Prime for the Matrix.

• Transformers Prime, an upcoming television series for Discovery Comunications's/Hasbro's The Hub.

Comics

• Prime Time!, an issue of the Marvel Comics Generation 1 comic book in which Optimus Prime gets back the Matrix.

• Prime Directive, a six-part Dreamwave Generation 1 miniseries which has a bunch of Autobots reactivated by the Matrix.

• Vector Prime: In the Beginning, an issue of the Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club comic which includes a flashback with Optimus Prime opening the Matrix.

In addition, there is Prime Spark, a prose story in which Armada Optimus Prime, who happens to be a Matrix-bearer, meets some other Transformers named Optimus, including Generation 1 Optimus Prime, who also happens to be a Matrix-bearer.

Prime should not be confused with:

• Prima, the first Transformer and Matrix-bearer.

• The Fallen, one of the original Transformers who abandoned his Prime name when he betrayed his brothers and abused the Matrix.

• Primon, because there just aren't enough past Matrix-bearers on this page.

• Primus, Transformer God, who made the Matrix.

• Optimus Primal, the munky from Beast Wars, who had an Energon Matrix in Japan.

• Primacron, the mighty ape-like creator of Unicron, who just doesn't get it.

• The thirteen original Transformers, who as a whole are sometimes simply called the Primes.
