Deployers are Soundwave's Minicons that he deploys from his chest. While small by Cybertronian standards, at least one of them is larger than an Earth helicopter.

When Soundwave intercepts a message from Agent Fowler, Soundwave releases one of his deployers (which was resting on his chest) to bring Fowler to the Decepticon ship. After chasing Fowler's helicopter, the drone's tentacles grab Fowler and the deployer returns to base. Darkness Rising, Part 3
