Red Alert was one of the many Transformers held in the Cauldron, the death-pit deep within the shattered remains of Unicron. He and the other Protectobots formed Defensor when Trailbreaker and Silverbolt released the prisoners, making a break for freedom. Escape

An exclusive to Kay-Bee stores, Red Alert is a (slight) redeco of Discharge, the right leg of Sixturbo. Still a red fire engine with white robot parts, he can form any part of the combined Defensor robot, but is frankly awkward in any position other than as a leg (his normal positioning is on as the left leg). The only notable difference between Red Alert and Discharge is that Red has gray-plastic upper legs, rather than Discharge's white.

The toy's larger connector socket is approximately 5mm wide, making Red Alert compatible with Powerlinx ports.
