- Sunstorm is a Decepticon in the Generation 1 continuity family.
Bright colors are nature's way of saying "Do not touch." Nature's got nothin' on Sunstorm. Come too close, and circuits will short, steel housing will begin to melt, and psyches will break as the mind struggles to comprehend.
Science would explain that his body is aflame in radiation. Sunstorm believes that he is the living embodiment of the Will of Primus, placed by the divine in this universe to deal righteous judgment on the blasphemous. His judgment is swift, painful, relentless, and punctuated with the recitation of Holy Writ. His power is only surpassed by his conviction.
Fiction
Animated continuity
Sunstorm was one of the Decepticon jets on Cybertron four million years ago. He shot at the Autobots Wheeljack and Bumblebee when they came near, and that's about it.
(Note: The character of Sunstorm was based retroactively on the orange jet (pictured at left) who appears in More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1. In the episode "Divide and Conquer", a different, all-yellow jet appears as part of a trio of Decepticon "rainmakers". Chances are, this version is not Sunstorm, even taking into consideration the haphazard coloring typically given to generic Seekers.)
Dreamwave Comics continuity
Sunstorm was a clone of Starscream, created as one of Shockwave's experiments. While in stasis he absorbed all of the data from the Oracle, and after being freed by Runabout and Runamuck he believed that he was performing its divine will.
Oracle, wants them not to plunge earth further into chaos Hidden Decepticon laboratory/Safehosue on the Epsilon border Fried Runabout and Runamuck- not dead, but very, very badly damaged. Nemesis's computer was uanble to distinguish Sunstorm's premise when Starscream was aboard, he did nto rea as a seperate entity. Sunstorm believe he's been granted his power by being 'at one withthe oracle' (his hypno-helmet.) hre wants to join with Starscream to lead the others 'into the light'. they are two wings that must join together to lift. Offended by Jetfire's agnosticism.
Sunstorm rapidly heals damage. "enhanced regenerative capabilities" Superspeed, the ability to manipulate multiple forms of electromagnetic energy.
Ratchet created a device that sends out an amplified version of Starscream's energy signature. Starscream, as a clone, si immune to Sunstorm's powers.
Clones are immune to energy emissions specific to their hosts. (or rather, the emissions dont' itnerfere with their host's energy signature.)
Experimental solar-powered fusion reactor. Before jetfire left cybertron, he knew the Decepticons were experimenign with puttign them in clones- but they burned the clones out almost instantly. Sunstorm has been augmented to avoid this.
Elements has a similar molecular structure to electrum.

Due to the fusion reactor powering his body, he was immensely powerful, literally crackling with energy. In addition, he was made from an electrum alloy that was constantly repairing any damage he took. Flying down to Earth, he tried to get Starscream to join him in his crusade, though Starscream believed his clone to be completely insane. Sunstorm battled with a number of Autobot, including Omega Supreme, eventually uncovering an enormous well of energy deep below the ocean, sealed with a mechanical door bearing a Cybertronian symbol. Jetfire and Bumblebee fought to stop him from unleashing whatever power the well held, until Jetfire, sensing that Sunstorm's internal fusion reactor was growing increasingly unstable, flew the overzealous seeker into orbit. Sunstorm's reactor went critical and exploded violently, completely obliterating both of them.
Universe
An alternate-universe version of Sunstorm was one of Megazarak's loyal inner circle. His radioactive condition was the result of an accident at the manufacturing facility during his birth.
(Note: Sunstorm did not actually appear in any true Universe fiction. He was given a bio in the 3H Fan Club magazine that places him as one of Megazarak's elite warriors. His bio uses the Generation 1 character design for him, rather than the Universe Sunstorm toy, who is by all indications an altogether different character.)

- Sold only in a separately-packaged-toys set with Load Hauler exclusive to e-Hobby, Sunstorm is a redeco of the original Starscream toy, transforming into an F-15 fighter jet. His coloration is inspired by --but not wholly accurate to for a vareity of reasons-- a previously-unnamed "generic" Decepticon seen in the episode "More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1".
- The same base mold is used by Dirge, Ramjet, Skywarp, Thrust, and Thundercracker.
Titanium Series

Merchandise
A Heroes of Cybertron version of Sunstorm was given as a freebie to people who pre-registered at OTFCC 2003 for next year's OTFCC 2004. He was later made available for sale through the 3H website. A repaint of the mold used to make Starscream and the other Seekers in the Heroes of Cybertron line, Sunstorm's colors are inspired by the e-Hobby toy, but given more variety in its shades of orange.
