Transformers: Generation 2 (cartoon)
This early 1990s series posesses more or less the same episode list as its G1 predecessor. Many old episodes were re-aired to promote the Generation 2 toyline; primarily this were from seasons one and two, though the odd third season show did slip in (curious, since the G2 toyline contained zero post-movie characters). The only substaintial differences were made in order to "update" the show; a new CGI intro featuring Optimus Prime battling a purple (G2-colored) Ramjet replaced the traditional cel-animated intro, and an intrusive and sound-smothering CGI device known as the "cyber-space cube" was added in an attempt to make cuts and other scene transitions seem cooler. This lackluster attempt at a G1 update is generally reviled by fans, and did not have anything like the staying power of its predecessor.
